Rivers and cities (a quiz)

There certainly are a lot of Grosse things in Michigan.

tomndebb , you’re wrong on a few. Dearborn, Allen Park and Lincoln Park don’t touch the river. But my city (not listed) does. And if you could guess it you’d deserve some kind of award, since no one ever seems to have heard of it, even in the Detroit area! Although, you seem pretty sharp, you said Del Ray.

Lansing Michigan. Not a large city, but it is the state Capital.

Well, I’m from the north end of Oakland County (just south of ShirleyUJest country), so I was never sure how close Lincoln Park got to the river. I thought Dearborn edged west of DelRay at Zug Island, but if it doesn’t, then River Rouge is probably blocking it. I admit, I did forget Ecorse and Trenton (and, in retrospect, I’ll bet that Gibraltar gets between Flat Rock and the river).
I also never recall the town between Windsor and Amherstburg.
But if you’re from a town that nobody knows exists, you must be from Riverview.

Nope, you got it! Ecorse. I’m amazed, lots of people from downriver, I say I’m from Ecorse, and they say, “Where’s that?”

Okay, how about:

Volga
Neva
Allegheny
Liffy

Liffy’s in Dublin.

The Rhone, as well as the Saone, are in Lyon.

The Allegheny runs through Pittsburgh.

Neva (desperately trying to recall that Russian history class) - umm…St. Petersburg?

Volga - Moscow?

Volga - VOLGAGRAD (formerly STALINGRAD)
Neva - ST. PETERSBURG (formerly LENINGRAD, formerly ST. PETERSBURG)
Allegheny
Liffy

The Willamette is Portland, OR; correct.

Chattahoochee is Atlanta.

St. Johns is Jacksonville, FL (this one flows South to North, as does the Willamette for part of it), and Raccoon is Des Moines, IA.
