I got a letter today from President Biden in which he calls me by my first name, and “Friend”!
While it’s the typical plea for money (along with instructions on how to fill out the check correctly), at least there’s no bullshit about registration or push poll.
I’m constantly getting spam calls and faxes on my business line from people offering the business-financing equivalent of payday loans whose messages say they are “following up on our previous discussion”. Seems like the same trick here.
Yeah. Luckily, I get very little of that shit. USPS, phone, home computer or work. I guess I’m for the most part under their radar. Didn’t do anything special. Hopefully, I will stay away from their interest.
My landline keeps getting calls from Elaine Stefanik (sp?). First, we’re getting closer and closer to dropping the landline (we would have by now if it were up to me only), but does she or her team seriously think her name is an enticement to pick up?
Like many, we have gotten rid of our land line. Was a bit of a trick where we live. I put up a small antenna for cell service on the roof and pointed it at the nearest tower about 15-20 miles away.
Our land line would go out in the winter a lot due to snow and snow plows. A week here, a week there. The hardwire pedestals got absolutely creamed by plows and buried in snow. I felt terrible for the guys trying to fix it. We finally said F- it and shut down our land line.
Still have a landline, mostly because I’m a retired AT&T employee and it’s very cheap.
At least twice I’ve attempted an outgoing call on it, only to find out it is dead. Never been a problem with line to the house, so it must have been a somewhat widespread problem. No idea how long it has been out, and generally takes 3-6 days to get fixed.
I may be the only person in the neighborhood who still has a landline - if someone was using one as their main/only line, I would assume they would have noticed the problem before I did.
