Basically, this group is called the Family Leadership Foundation and has invited all of the GOP Presidental hopefuls to a “moderated, friendly and open discussion.” The RNC has threatened to cut off any Presidental candidate who attends from taking part in “any future RNC-sanctioned presidential primary debates.”
This could potentially get interesting. Who can afford to shrug and go anyway, gambling that the upside will balance the loss of debating? Vivek would probably go to burnish his “outsider” credentials, but all of them are hanging on by fingernails. DeSantis has already said he’ll be there. I have to wonder what they’d do if Trump showed up.
Ban Trump from debates that he has no intention of attending anyway? The RNC have yet to figure out that it’s not their party anymore, and they are irrelevant.
I thought he was already banned due to his refusal to sign a pledge to endorse whoever the eventual nominee is. His refusal to me shows how insecure he actually is, and then he bolsters that by doing an interview with Tucker Carlson that can’t even get on TV to run counter to the first debate.
Honestly, the RNC can’t do anymore to snub Donnie, who would just continue to say, “You can’t snub me, I snub you first!”
It’s like watching kindergartners feuding on a playground.
The CEO of the Family Leadership Foundation announced on Twitter that the RNC has agreed that the format is “not a debate” and is backing down on their threat to candidates who participate.
No, not completely irrelevant. He’ll allow them to continue because they can be used to funnel money in his direction. What the RNC has realized is that EVERYONE ELSE has determined they have no control, but have no one else to hang on to. So they’ll cravenly cling to whomever wants what little influence they keep with the big donors, but are otherwise toothless.
If the MAGA party wasn’t such a malignant cancer, I’d approve of them gutting the Republicans. But, well, I slightly prefer the previous Lawful Evil (mostly) Republican party than the current Neutral Evil (with Chaotic tendencies!) MAGA party. I was pretty sure at least that the McCain era Republicans wanted our nation to continue if only so they could run it, but MAGA? No. They happily tear the country to pieces as long as they get to feel superior.
