RO: ELF strikes again

I don’t like being judged and put in different “pens” depending on how we behave. I’m going to blow something up!

“harmful radio waves”? :dubious:

Stupid and domestic terrorists. Wow, what a combo.

First thing I thought when I saw this thread title was “Wow, Extra Low Frequencies are suddenly much more interesting!”

I think this depends. I can see an alternate Middle-Earth in which Annatar offers the elder race a free data plan at nominal cost for the phones, and the elves spend the rest of their time texting haikus at each other.

Thanks, ELF! We are right at the radio wave “tipping point”, and any more radio waves will give us all brain cancer. Even worse, kittens and puppies heads will start to assplode.

You have saved the entire world with your brave AND cowardly terrorist act.

Thanks, Marley.

Chessic, you’re a goddam moron. There’s this class of people, I notice it more among conservatives but maybe that’s just my bias, who are convinced that all their political opponents are incapable of thinking clearly, who are convinced that their opponents are blind partisans.

The funny thing is that these people are the most obnoxious kneejerk partisans imaginable, to a fault. I have never seen anyone in this class who are capable of deciding an issue on its merits.

Welcome to class, moron.

I predict that this will turn out not to be ELF at all, but one of the neighbors who didn’t like the towers in their view. The ELF sign is just too convienient.

ELF sucks. PETA sucks. ALF sucks. Vandalism is a crime and should be punished. That satisfy your need for moral outrage, Chessic Sense?

ELF complained about declining property values? Property values? ELF?

That was my first thought, too. It does seem a little unlikely.

Remember, the job of the ELF spokesperson is to try to put a socially-acceptable spin on their activities.

Yeah, that’s where I went too. The least they could do is be honest and say that they oppose the towers because they’re ugly. Both the reasons they gave sound like bullshit, trying to put a positive spin on what they’re doing to non-crazy people.

Radio waves drive you batshit crazy. Just ask Chessic, who has obviously been living under a rock near a tower for decades.

Speaking of which, I keep reading this thread as “ELO strikes again” and wondering if some reunion concert is in the offing which is generating much recreational outrage.

But in the past the ELF has done precisely the opposite. They’ve always gone out of their way to make clear their disdain for mainstream morals and societal norms, and some of their prior reasoning has seemed clearly calculated to remove any and all “socially-acceptable spin” from their announcements. They have always seemed, to me at least, resolutely proud of their social pariah status.

Would you prefer intelligent domestic terrorists? I’ll go with the stupid bad guys, thanks.

Wait, the Scoia’tel are at it again!?
[/semi obscure fantasy reference]

Ok, the AP thinks ELF did it.

The owners of the towers aren’t so sure.

Then again ELF spokesperson Jason Crawford thinks it may have been them, though he isn’t positive.

Methinks toppling an alleged eyesore probably helps property values more than the biosphere, but motive doesn’t always guide us to the actual perp.

Heh. To French me, ELF is a gas station chain. Since they’ve been all over the frontpages a few years back for causing quite a few black tides* because they run decrepit tankers to save on costs, I figured this was about yet another eco disaster.

  • do you guys even call them that ? When a tanker capsizes close to shore and the beaches (and wildlife) get covered in crude oil ?

Blasted nonhumans ! Let them hang, I say !
