Yeah… we seem to have done that. I know that Shot From Guns said the OP was RO, but after reading the linked article I would have expected the “O” to rather outweigh the “R” in responses.

I can understand how one crazy person could seamlessly blend into an institution and cover his tracks, especially since any self reporting of their victims will be distrusted off the bat. I’m sure lots of criminal women cry rape in a desperate attempt to somehow get free. But the part where the other officers laugh at her, don’t check her claims out, and just let her stew in a cell is serious nightmare fuel.

I think we (dopers) treat a doper rape-victim much differently than a case of RO. I’m young and naively optimistic though.
These stories are the worst. The police in most areas have a hard enough job getting the public to trust them. Dirty cops make the job even more difficult. Dirty cops who rape women make it pretty much impossible. Who do you call for help when you don’t even know if you can be safe when they come by? Sure, the rotten apples are a minority. But, that minority is a hell of a lot easier to see. What an horrific situation.
