No, I was thinking it was February. As for a defective calendar, just so long as it doesn’t end on December 31, you’re good. If it does, you’ve doomed us all to the end of the world.

Part of the problem is that she wasn’t taken to the hospital until a significant amount of time had passed, so any evidence that might have been there could have deteriorated. And the fact that she wasn’t taken to the hospital, and was thrown into the slammer for a while, indicates that this isn’t the first time that someone has accused a cop in this group of rape, and they are all pretty much used to covering things up.
Even if they’d gotten her to a hospital and collected evidence immediately, the rapist has already changed his story from “I had consensual sex with her before, but not this time” to “Uh, wait, no, we didn’t have sex before, but this time we did exactly what she claimed, except it was consensual.” It still comes down to her word versus his, and even with a huge fucking mountain of other supporting evidence, the DA still didn’t want to prosecute the case.

Without wanting to get into too much detail because it squicks me out, medical professionals can often tell non-consensual sex from the proper kind even 12 hours later.
