Road courtesy maneuver: Naughty but nice

I don’t expect someone to do a famers turn to keep me from slowing down, but I do appreciate it. Something is missing here. I will for instance, stop at the top of the pass (a big wide area and pull off the road) and let people by because I know that after getting over the pass, and everyone is speeding up I don’t want someone on my ass when I have to make a near stop on a highway to make a hairpin turn onto a gravel road to my right in a mile.

If I’m coming from the other direction, coming up the pass I signal way before and know just what I need to do. If someone is behind me, and all is clear I will move into the left as I slow down and make the turn so they can keep their momentum up. Simple and better than getting rear ended.

I saw two famer turns coming home from work tonight. Never thought much of it. Never even knew it had a name. Never even thought about it until I saw this thread.

I think we are talkng past each other in this thread. Oh, and if people aren’t moving their head and looking around the new fat A pillars, they shouldn’t be behind the wheel anyway. That has nothing to do with the ‘farmer turn’. That would be classified under ‘bad driver’.
