Road tripping from Charlotte to Kissimmee--recommend some places.

This April I am a judge at the National Pie Championships in Kissimmee Florida from April 25-27. My wife and I are using the opportunity to fly into Charlotte (actually Mooresville) and visit her mom for a few days and then drive down for the event. We’re staying one night in Savannah along the way. We’re looking for recommendations for anything cool-quirky-fun along the way; roadside attractions, restaurants, coffee-shops, antique malls, etc.

Anyone care to recommend anything?

St. Augustine, Fl is a great place to spend the day. If you have the time to spare I highly suggest taking a drive down A1A from St. Augustine to Titusville, very nice beach/coastal scenery.

Edit To Add- Gatorland in Kissimmee is always fun too.

Savannah itself is a nice, old city. My wife and I like to explore the waterways and walk through the old cemetaries. Good food as well, but avoid the “famous” places - like Paula Dean’s - as they are cliched and overcrowded. There are lots of local places to choose from.
