Robert Heinlein on the BBC!

While poking around on the intarwebs, I happened upon this BBC page, which lists airtimes for a dramatization of RAH’s Methuselah’s Children. Hopefully, they’ll make it accessable so that those of us who can’t catch the broadcast can listen to it.

Looks like only episodes 3-6. The first three must have aired already.

Once BBC7 have broadcast it, episodes are usually left up as a ‘listen again’ option for a week…
They repeat stuff regularly - I heard it back in summer and thought it was pretty good. No doubt it’ll be round again in a few months.

Do they sell programs like these, on disc?

Some, but not much. I think it’s limited due to copyright problems.
This is the BBC Sales page for audio stuff - in the SF section most of it’s old Doctor Who episodes with a few others thrown in.
Of the ones I’ve heard, The Kraken Wakes by John Wyndham is good…

Ugh, realmedia.
That nixes that idea.

Who played Lazarus Long?

Paul Birchard is the reader. It isn’t a dramatization with multiple actors. It’s more of an audiobook.

Yeah, I don’t like the Beeb’s fascination with that format.

google up “Real Alternative”

It’s a 3rd party player that can handle all Real Media codecs, it’s free, there’s no spyware or BS associated with getting it, and last I checked it was completely legit (RM pursued legal action but wasn’t able to accomplish anything).
