Robins and Bluejays

Yeah, and the shoe store next to them can be Imelda’s, but only if there’s a large selection.

“‘Adam and Steve?’ Of course it’s not ‘Adam and Steve’. It’s Adam and STEVEN.”
– David Rackoff [? Dan Savage?]

Oh, thank God - I thought this was a rant because Monty couldn’t date outside his reading group.

In case that is too obscure a reference and someone thinks I’m flaming Monty.

Shodan

Okay… so if the Robin mates with the Blue Jay, it gives her a yeast infection?

Courtesy of yours truly’s drawing skills, I present to you: A robin mating with a bluejay.

African or European?

Fascinating! Spurred by Chowder’s post, I googled images of the English Robin (no links…do it yurownself), our bigger American Robin and then the African Robin. I didn’t even know that one existed but it sure looks related to the American one. Now wouldn’t that screw with the Dixie relatives.

Sic a blue jay on her!

For those of you picturing birds with penis and vagina, forget it. They don’t have ‘em. Waste and sexual stuff all dump into a common pouch called the cloaca (Latin for sewer) in both sexes. When birds are feelin’ sexy, they turn the cloaca inside out, the male’s pouch dripping with sperm cells. The two cloacas touch briefly, and it’s done. (So, did the chicken or the egg come first? )

Here’s where somebody will tell me the proper plural for cloaca, I guess.

It sounds like the kind of thing that Dr. Phil would say.

I know, I was on a work assignment in Alabama when they had a issue on the ballot to eliminate a provision in the state constitution that made interracial marriage illegal. The law violated the US constitution and was not enforceable, but was still on the books.

It passed by about a 3:2 majority, but that still means that 4 out of 10 voters in Alabama were in favor of keeping interracial marriage illegal. There were more than 20 counties were the ban was voted to be kept. What the hell is wrong with people?

Well, since you asked: cloacae.

Thank you. My Latin knowledge begins and ends with Cuban jazz.
