What angle is a metolious (SLCD) cam cut at?
-M
My drunk friend made me post this question…
Slightly less than most cams. And it’s Metolius.
E-mailing them may be the only way to get an exact angle, if they’re willing to share.
Sounds good, even though I doubt she will remember the question in the first place. Hehehe.

If you are talking about the “cam angle”, it’s about 14 degrees, but it varies from cam to cam - specifically, a smaller cam will need a larger angle or it won’t be able to expand enough to do any good. The exact value of the cam angle for a particular cam can’t be a secret, it should be easy enough to measure.
To understand cam angle: Lean a stick against a wall at some angle. Push down on the stick at it’s contact point with the wall, blocking the stick from sliding. The outward force on the stick away from the wall varies with the angle it’s leaning. The closer the base of the stick is to the wall, the less force is exerted away from the wall. Smaller cam angles lead to increasing horizontal forces in this illustration.
