When you see a live band performing on throw rugs, and it seems as though most of them do, why do they do that? Comfort? Accoustics?

It’s usually to keep the drum kit, monitors, varius stands that are on wheels from slipping. Generally the stage is hard wood and even locked wheels on the cases might slip, so to help prevent that, they use the rugs.
Why Oriental rugs as opposed to something else, I don’t know.
