Rock stars in their 50s

From another board, about AC/DC
“And dear Lord, you spared yourself a travesty Saturday night. I don’t think there’s anything wrong at all with playing rock music past your thirties obviously, but good grief, to still be wearing the little short pants schoolboy outfit and writhing around on the stage when you’re in your fifties is just plain silly. The only thing I could think of while watching them perform was Grow Up.”
What do you think? Is Mick Kagger supposed to mellow down and his act, too?

It’s debatable that it’s better to burn out than to rust but I have to admire Angus Young for putting on his goofy ass New Zeland schoolboy getup and spazzing out on stage for us. yes, it looked silly but it showed that AC/DC is still true to its roots, music and all. It would only be silly if I did that but I just hope when I’m in my fifties my knees are in that good of a condition.

To answer the second part of your post, Yes. It’s time for the rolling stoners to DIE DIE DIE my darling… Oops. Sorry. An old Misfits song just popped into my head.

The only thing holding keith richards’ body together is pot resin. They should quit and get lost. I’m sick of hearing them and hearing about them.

Aerosmith too.

There’s only so many times you can hear “satisfaction” or “dream on” before you have to retch.

Both bands were great in their time, but they haven’t done anything musically in years. (Aerosmith started to get lame with Pump, and the stones started to suck well before Live Aid)

Ok. back to rational mode.
Ignore me.

There are no dangerous weapons,
Only dangerous men.

However,
Johnnie Johnson is nearing 80 and can out-rock just about anyone!
And a nicer fella there is not…

Sweet Basil

SRB will get you girls!!

Good point Sweet Basil. I saw John Lee Hooker last year. He’s 77 and still has Boom Boom to spare for all the Boogie Chillun.

Keith Richards made a good point a while back. He said that if the Stones were a bunch of fifty-something black guys, nobody would be making an issue of their age. Bloody racism, sez Keef. I’m inclined to agree.

“My hovercraft is full of eels.”

I did see Chuck Berry, over 75, last year. he has a more Bill Cosby appearance by now.

Little Richard, though…I think he could retire finally. We will even admit he singlehandedly invented rock and roll if that’s what it takes.

He couldn’t sing then. Can he sing now? :stuck_out_tongue:

“His eyes are as green as a fresh-pickled toad,
His hair is as dark as a blackboard,
I wish he was mine, he’s really divine,
The hero who conquered the Dark Lord.”

Sometimes cool will just always be cool.
John Lee Hooker. He’s transferred from a cool young guy to a cool old guy.

AC/DC. I was embarassed for them. Angus is becoming a parody of himself. Their music hasn’t changed one iota for 25 years (or more. how long have they been around?). Can’t they progress into something else?

Separate subject of AC/DC performance. The rhythm guitar player - did he seem wacked out or is it just me?
