Rock stars that make you laugh

ahah, will we also be singing along to ska and swing bands too? They were the flavor of the year a while ago too.

As for rock stars that make me laugh, I’d go with Danzig. He always trying to pass off this dark scary image and it never really works.

Phil Anselmo of Pantera is a good one too. Blah, blah, blah, I’m so tough… Yeah Phil, run along now.

Trent Reznor (sp?). For the same reasons the above poster mentions Danzig.

Jonathan Richman is almost always upbeat at his shows and can make me laugh easily.
Warren Zevon is usually good for a sarcastic or witty remark to laugh about.
and then there’s David Byrne… saw him a couple of years ago and he had that green fury suit thing on for a while.
Agree with the comment on Robin Hitchcock.

Firstly, I think it’s just so easy to call him Treznor. It’s a nice, shortened version.

Anyhoo, following in this vein, I always laugh at Marilyn Manson. I’ve never seen someone work so hard to piss so many people off and be “scary”. Oh my GOD! He’s naked, he’s bloody, he’s got a crazy pale eye. I’m so scared…

please. If you have to WORK THAT HARD at being controversial…you’re not.

jarbaby

Dave Hill from Slade. I have a good deal of respect for Noddy Holder, but Dave Hill just makes me laugh.

Ozzy Osbourne. I saw his Behind the Music special and he was a laugh riot. They interviewed his children (who, BTW, appear to be the most well-behaved and well mannered rock star children I’ve ever seen) and they asked his daughter (then 10 or 11) about how she felt about her dad’s image. She said she always has to ask him not to swear when her friends came over. A cut to Ozzy and he replies with, “Well, what the fuck am I going to say, then?”. A later clip (after explaining the biting-the-head-of-bird thing) showed him sticking his parrot’s head into his mouth and pretending to bite it. Hilarious.

Keith Richards. But that’s 'cause he’s always been in on the joke.

Leading the charge? How quickly we forget bands like Anthrax and Faith No More. KR and LB are hardly innovators.

From what I read in this thread, people aren’t slamming the music (at least not in their posts), but the musicians.

Hey, I love Marilyn Manson’s music (earlier stuff anyway), but the guy’s a major goof and he puts his foot in his mouth every time he opens it and tries to do anything but sing. KR and LB are the same way, they try too hard to be the band that parents hate. I don’t know about parents, but I know LB pretty much alienated every female fan with that behind the scenes home video they made.

Marilyn Manson is just this generation’s version of Alice Cooper. Now there was a man to laugh at!

Remember in Wayne’s World?

We’re not worthy! We’re not worthy

Paging Gary Glitter… Mr. Gary Glitter…

I laugh at Bono’s glasses.
David Bowie’s entire career… huh? (David and Jagger’s cover of “Dancin’ in the streets”, uh… yeah. And the video?
[Dr. Evil] Rrrrriiiiiight. [/Dr. Evil]

BTW, Coldie, it’s DEE SNYDER.

NRBQ - I laugh because they are a hoot live, like Adrian Legg, not because they over do it.

I must agree with all above, b’cept, if we’re gonna bring up Bizkit, we must mention Mr. Wacky-eyes bass player.

I guess you need a visual hook nowadays to make it in the biz - sound ain’t quite enough.

That dude from Faith No More has my respect simply for keeping up the facade as Vlad Drac, lead singer for Mr. Bungle. That’s slapstick.

As far as Ian goes, demanton, isn’t it nice to see a truly talented guy say “fuck you and your wheelbarrow full of money” to the labels and continue doing what he likes? He’s my town’s greatest treasure. If you like him, check out John Stabb and Government Issue. Stabb is the Woody Allen to Ian’s Don Ho.
