Rockin Banjo

[QUOTE=Darryl Lict]
Unfortunately, Bela never played any “Rock”, so I can’t comment on his rock chops. I did listen to a couple of clips off his classical album (I might have to buy it), so I assume he can play any type of music he wants on a banjo.

I’ll second the recommendation for Three Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest, particularly his electric banjo towards the end of the track “The Longing”.

Speaking of “Bela” and “banjo,” on the soundtrack to the documentary “Lugosi: Hollywood’s Dracula” an outfit called The Dallas Banjo Band does a couple of classical pieces on banjo, including “Swan Lake” and “Black and Tan Fantasy.” Also the Depression-era standard “Brother Can You Spare a Dime.”

elelle…couldn’t agree more on both pickers…Danny and John Hartford, i would also add Marc Vann RIP :frowning: former banjo player for Leftover Salmon…

You cant say Banjo without smiling :slight_smile:

Here’s a video of Abigail, Bela and the Sparrow Quartet in Beijing.

Rockin’ banjo? Oh friend, you have to check out the Avett Brothers.

I believe it’s just what the OP ordered.
