I want to thank the FBI, US Attorney’s Office and the jury that convicted Blago on 17 of the 20 charges against him. I hope this helps reduce political corruption, if only by a bit.
I haven’t been following the Illinois news as closely as I did when I lived in Chicago: has Pat Quinn been keeping his nose clean? Or, at least, has nothing scandalous made the papers yet?
Nothing scandalous, but he’s in a no-win situation with the budget mess.
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Good one!!!
For some reason, I can’t stop thinking about how, after the first hung jury trial, Blagojevich kept saying that the retrial would be a huge waste of taxpayer’s money.
I mean, it was obvious posturing at the time, but, post-conviction, it just seems…more evil. A base appeal to fear couched as some sort of veiled threat.
Man, that guy rubs me the wrong way.
I think it’s interesting how the lead juror even said he hung his own noose because of all the talking he did on the stand. He would say one thing one day, then contradict himself during a tangent the next day. The jackass just can’t stop flapping his lips!
Well, I’m sure he knew his goose was cooked on paper. His only hope (barring another aggressive standout) was using “charisma” rather than “facts.”
No, wait, I think he was serious.
Blago’s problem I think is that at some point, he lost his mind. There’s really no other way to explain a lot of what is on these tapes.
They say he could get up to 10 years, but if he serves more time than George Ryan, that would be a crime. I mean, no one died because of Blago’s corruption.
