Roddick just beat Federer

Noteworthy since he was 2-22 against him, and one of those two wins was in 2001, before Fed. was on fire.

Basically, since Federer took off and became a star, Roddick is 1-22 or so against Federer.

And now, he is 3-22, having won tonight.

Good for him.

Apparently it’s the first time Andy has beaten Federer since 2008. (Says TeamStream on my iPhone)

And is it just me, or is Federer losing his touch? I mean, he’s still one of the best in my opinion, but in recent years he has seemed to be slowing down somewhat. Must be the result of getting older…

He’s slowed down a bit, but he’s been playing very well since mid- to late last year. He was 40-2 since the U.S. Open, according to SI.

Reminds me of the funniest quote in professional tennis by Vitas Gerulaitis:

“Nobody beats Vitas Gerulaitis 17 times in a row.” – post-match conference after beating Jimmy Connors after Connors had beaten him 16 times in a row.

Dude, he’s been on fire lately. He hasn’t won a major in awhile, but he even won the year-end championship last year.

When he’s focused, he’s still almost unbeatable. But lately he doesn’t seem as focused. In fact, I asked my husband if he thought that the twins had kept him up all night. My husband said, “The Doublemint Twins?”

So you can see where HIS mind is.

I was glad for Roddick even though he drives me batty with the nervous pulling of his shirt sleeve and manic ball bouncing.

I was rooting for Kei Nikishori v Nadal today. He seems like such a nice chap. And we need some new blood at the top of men’s tennis. But Nadal won in two.

The Cibulkova/Azarenka match was outstanding. Made Williams/Ivanovic look like a bunch of amateurs.

Oh, and I hate Serena Williams and her phony humility. Too bad she took down Stosur.

That is all for now.

Now if this third win could only have come Wimbledon 2004. Or 2005. Or 2009 (when by all rights it should have). Or the US Open 2006.

I’m fairly certain that I could have beaten Mardy Fish today. He looked just awful against Juan Monaco today. Poor guy.

Loved watching Bartoli take down the shrieker, Azarenka. Bartoli is such an odd duck, with her two-handed forehand and two-handed backhand. I saw her play in Cincinnati and she’s even odder in real life. She kept looking up at me. I thought that maybe she had a little crush on me until I realized her father was sitting behind me.

The other shrieker, Sharapova, beat Caroline Wozniacki in 3. Good match.

Haven’t seen Djokovic play much this tourney. For the #1 guy in the world, he sure doesn’t get a lot of screen time.

No kidding, those djokers need to give more airtime.

Didn’t get to see the women’s match. Glad that Radwanska won, though.

The Murray/Djokovic final didn’t even get interesting until the 2nd set. I was rooting for Murray, but once again, he’s a bridesmaid. Djokovic still managed to pull out a win even though it looked to me like his asthma was getting to him.

Bummed about Nadal’s knee. Hope it doesn’t sideline him too long, but with his style of play, I fear he won’t be around in 5 years.
