Rolling Stone: Ya had me, then you lost me

The only reason I ever read the magazine was for the P. J. O’Rourke articles.

I dumped my subscription back in '87 or so… RS had been going downhill for sometime, but when they started putting perfume sample ads in, that was IT.

I used to think RS was tolerable. Lots of crap (a Def Leppard album gets 4 stars?!?) but you’d find the occasional Hunter S. Thompson piece or some other worthwhile nugget. Now if I’m in a waiting room with a stack of magazines I’d grab a Reader’s Digest before a Rolling Stone.
