Sorry, twickster; it wasn’t even a very hard choice. I just can’t believe that “Honky Tonk Women” didn’t make it this far. Plus I was really pulling for “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking” to take all the marbles.

The best thing about this bracketing thing is that it’s made me realize how awesome the Stones catalog of songs really is. Even what I would think of as their second-tier songs, stuff not in my personal Top 10, are still kick-ass.
I’d take about a dozen of their songs, including “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”, “Heartbreaker”, “Dead Flowers” and “Monkey Man”, and most certainly “Let It Bleed” (one of my Top 5 Stones faves) over “Paint It, Black”.
In fact, I just went back to look at the original bracketing of 64 songs, and two of my all time Stones faves didn’t even make it to the Dance: Shine A Light and Memory Motel. Huh!
