This “complete” list would surprise the Roman Emperors who lasted until the 15th century.
Your interpretation of Roman is rather Byzantine.
The author pointed out that the ‘eastern’ line couninued to that point. This article was up to the fall of Rome as stated.
I guess this is like finding someone who believes the All in the Family canon does not include Archie Bunker’s Place.
The term “Byzantine Empire” was created after the Roman Empire was conquered. The folks in Constantinople called their country the equivalent of “Romanland”. There was technically no such thing as a Byzantine Emperor.
The adjective Byzantine can also mean complicated, devious, impenetrable, and obscure…
