lurkernomore and I met online… though it wasn’t love at first write.
We met about 5 or so years ago on Scifi.com’s BBoard we hung out a lot in Books & 'Zines/Genres and somehow managed to take it to e-mail. When I started up my scifi mailing list, I asked him to be one of my co-moderators. We never even talked about the possibilities of “what if” because I was dating someone else at the time. When that relationship ended, someone [sub]Home of the Braves[/sub] mentioned to lurker that if he ever came to Florida, he and I should see what would happen between us. He brought it up to me, thinking I’d find the thought rediculous, and instead I floored him by saying “Why not?”
We talked via e-mail, phone, the chat room on my website… and he came down in March to see how things would be when we met face to face. All systems were go at that point and a few months later, I found myself moving to NYC, for a variety of reasons. So, where we stand now is dating, still seeing where life is going to take us… and doing our best to make sure that even if the relationship doesn’t work, the friendship will.
This one’s easy. Airman Doors, USAF and I met on IRC and AIM and have been together about six weeks or so. After nightly chats (I’ve got all of them logged) and/or phone calls, we finally met IRL last weekend and got along wonderfully. He’s planning to come down in a few weeks before he leaves for basic training, and I am REALLY excited!
Gunslinger and I met here on the SDMB and have been together for over a year. We met in person for the first time on Labor Day weekend and again two weeks ago, after many moons of IM, chat, email, voicemail, snail mail, packages and letters, and a couple of late-night phone conversations.
Me and Scott met online. Well, we actually worked together about 4 years ago, but I never talked to him, I just knew who he was. I did a search on Bridgewater, and came up with his screenname. We started talking, and flirting, and realized we worked together. 6 months later, we were involved.
Mr. Beckwall and I met back on Prodigy chat. It’s been over 5 years now, and we live together in bliss (AKA Palm Springs). I actually moved to Utah (gack, now that’s true love) to be with him the first year but we came to our senses and settled here. Much happier, much healthier and fewer weird people knockin’ on our front door. As I posted in the earthquake thread, our bed is still a-shakin’ after all these years.
