Romney strapped his dog on car roof for 12 hour journey

Me too

Yes, but accordiing to the Bible, aren’t dogs lesser beings that you can treat like shit?

Sure he did. He strapped his dog in a carrier on the roof of his station wagon.

You appear to be making a fuss about using the verb “strap” to mean something other than attaching the dog’s body directly to the car. In other words, according to you, if the dog’s in a box, you can’t be actually strapping the dog on the roof.

I already noted that the OP’s phrasing could be considered somewhat misleading for that reason, but your repeated insistence that it’s actually erroneous seems silly.

By your logic, a mourner at a burial would be “in error” if he said “Let’s lift Grandpa’s body out of the hearse now”. Because of course, what he actually intends to lift is the coffin. I think what you’re indulging in here is just over-fastidious semantic nitpicking.

With the story being 25 years old, there’s pretty good chance this dog is dead.

I think how a man treats animals says a lot about him. For a person to be so callous to his own pet tells me that he’s not a very caring person. I think this story is going to dog him throughout the campaign. Maybe we’ll even see a group emerge, Canines for Truth. And I’d say the what a 24 year old truth about Mitt Romney is fairer game than 40 year old lies about John Kerry.

24 years ago? So, how does he treat his pets now?

I’ve always thought that leopards don’t change their spots. If he was unfeeling 24 years ago, there’s a much better than average chance he’s unfeeling now. Sure, he may have changed his mind on how animals should be treated, just as he’s flip-flopped on abortion and gay rights. But I wouldn’t bet on it.

Stupidity and bad judgment are not terribly relevant to one’s ability to serve as President?
(Yeah, yeah, I know; insert Dubya joke here…)

I was so worried about where this would be going when the Main Screen only showed the title “Romney strapped his dog on…”

You got an extra “m” stuck in the middle of the descriptor, and misspelled “reason”.

So, you’re saying that you’re fully aware that your thoughts about leopard and spots aren’t supported by the facts?

I’m saying that with his record of flip-flopping, it is impossible to determine what convictions, if any, he truly has.

Nah, that’s women

I keed, I keed

“Have you stopped mistreating your dogs?”

This sounds stupid and thoughtless to me, but seriously- it’s a 24-year-old story. If there was video footage of it happening last week, it might hurt Romney. Meanwhile, perhaps he’s cost himself the PETA vote.

Now Mitt says hey, the dog actually liked it! http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

Multiply this  as many times as you see fit.

What terrible luck! One of the two times he goes hunting, and PETA finds out about it. Them varmints.

Candidates never seem to figure this out, but sometimes you should just STOP EXPLAINING. :stuck_out_tongue:

Swiftboating, dogroofing, whatever.

Gee, what’s gonna come next? Harrassing candidates about their haircuts?

I can think of at least one instance where it may have been necessary. Appreciated, even.
