Your interpretation, and therefore your post, is obviously stupid, since it would imply that Kael thought she was surrounded by one person.

Fuck sakes. She was utilizing a rare rhetorical device generally referred to as “joking.”
My impression is that many Americans were quite upset by Republican nastiness, especially given publicity about voter suppression efforts, and were therefore energized to vote early, or to turn out on Election Day.
The election might have been much closer, IMO, with less GOP mischief.
I definitely see where the OP was going here. I spoke to no less than a dozen of my republican friends who all were completely convinced Romney would win.
I actually called for Obama to win MUCH easier than he did and was actually a little surprised it was that close. But not a single republican I know was in doubt… and now they are less than happy about it.
I’m conservative. A lot of my friends are liberal, but we still have very good friendships. We respect each other. I suspect I’d get along well with many liberals here and we’d even be friends.
Stop looking for the stereotypes (I could write one for liberals just as easily as you just did) and talk to the people. If we forgot about the D’s and R’s we’d all get along so much better.
ETA: It probably helps me that I’m critical of Romney and the Republican party, but more conservatives like me ARE out here. I actually am interested in hearing constructive criticism, but not the usual litany of how stupid Republicans are. There are good people who want to fix this party and some of the ridiculous stances it’s taken.
I’m a Romney supporter and I’m not surprised. You had an incumbent president with no major fuck-ups in his term, and a candidate with the charisma of John Kerry who had some frankly idtiotic economic ideas.
“Is this just math you do as a Republican to make yourself feel better, or is it real?”
THAT quote from Megan Kelly is my favorite thing ever and you can expect to see it featured prominently in my future postings.
The republican party has been reduced to a conflict between a mostly moderate electorate and pundit/business interests that want to profit off of their fear and xenophobia. They didn’t care if Romney won; they just wanted to profit off of the Two Minutes Hate.
The republican propaganda/media engine profits more from the fear they’re selling when the democrats are in charge. So it goes.
