Well, I am not sure if I have a very strong opinion on whether Ron DeSantis is a fascist or just acts like one.
However, a couple months ago, mindful of the fact that DeSantis was trying hard to distinguish himself from Trump, I was tempted to write the DeSantis campaign a note helpfully suggesting a campaign slogan that I thought would be useful in that regard: “Ron DeSantis, a fascist who can actually spell ‘fascist’!” Can’t imagine any reason that they would not want to run with it

Now, if you dig into it, it really only applies to certain places (like schools and libraries), and it exempts others, such as restaurants and healthcare providers. But it certainly gives cover to anybody who chooses to go that route, and absolutely fosters a culture of fear and ostracism.
Besides being absurd. I’ve met a few transgender men in my life: they always had facial hair. And any transgender woman that I’ve seen makes an effort to wear makeup and other more feminine accoutrements. It seems to me that a person who feels their body doesn’t fit their gender doesn’t go half way - they endeavor to become noticeably masculine or feminine.
So you’re going to legislate dudes with goatees in the ladies room, and pretty women wearing high heels and long flowing hair in the men’s room.
It’s just dumb.

The world is full of fascists today, some real, some delusional, some innocent. DeSantis might be a fascist to some, Antifa act like fascists according to the definition, as does BLM, as does the trans movement, Trump to me is just a narcassist. I call it the trans movement because they only tag along with LGB to gain legitimacy, while actually damaging the image of LGB.
I believe that centers of education and knowledge, and by extension their employees, should not seek to influence children with their own activism or ideologies. Kids are already dumb enough on things that actually matter like language, science and things that actually feed and employ people. Knowledge, science, history, etc. should also not perverted to suit the activists or fascists of the day.
I believe that laws already protect all people equally and any special consideration/protections given a small minority who demand it should not be considered. I am saying it as member of a racial minority with active discriminatory laws against us in our country of birth. Also that law and order must be maintained at all costs and lawlessness stopped in its tracks with as much force as required. Peaceful protest does not need to be conducted like fascist rallies with intolerance of any opposition.
There are things Ron does that may be a little nuts.
There are things he does which I agree with like measures that bring back sanity to society.
There are things I don’t agree with like his foreign policy.
There are things the Democrats stand for that I like to support, there are things like them choosing inclusion at all costs regarding of merit that I don’t.
There are things the Reps do that I like, there are things I don’t like which happens to be the things I like about the Dems.
Politics in the US is a Cluster. You might like what Ron stands for when it comes to the social fabric. You vote for him and you end up with Trump as president.

I think I spotted part of your problem understanding the word fascism. You’re conflating it with activism.

Or do you agree with the proposition that a teacher can teach about a subject without being an activist for the subject?
I mean, presumably a class can be taught about the Holocaust without being left with the impression that the teacher is an advocate for the mass extermination of identifiable groups of people. Right?
So why not as it pertains to things like gender, or civil rights?
Because the laws that DeSantis pushes are not simply dictating that there not be an ideology promoted by a teacher; it instead prevents the teacher from even talking about such subjects. As in, pretend they don’t exist. When it’s clear and plain that things like gender identity, or an American history replete with racism, do exist.
That’s the most perverse notion of freedom that I’ve ever heard of.
Now this is obviously incorrect, as even a few seconds of thought should reveal.
All laws discriminate. The issue is on what basis they discriminate. Does the law treat people who take things without paying differently than people who take things after they pay? Yes, and it’s a legitimate reason. But if the law says that a man can marry a woman, but a woman cannot marry a woman, than that law is discriminating for reasons that have no credible basis (since, “I don’t like it” isn’t a reason to deny another people the right to do something that doesn’t concern you).
Do you see the difference?
If the most you’ve done when considering the law is say “It’s already equal for everybody”, I dare say you haven’t given the subject enough consideration.
