Ron Howard = yawn

So it’s a personal insult to say you don’t agree with someone else’s taste in movies? Come ON. I doubt any of the regulars here does not know exactly what I was referring to [cough]Paul Verhoeven[/cough].

Wouldn’t that fall under “baiting”?

Nope. I wasn’t baiting him. It was just a good-natured jab about our past differences about Verhoeven. Which was overreacted to.

Me, too. And I think Cinderella Man didn’t get nearly enough consideration.

This reminds me of my biggest Ron Howard complaint. Having Akiva Goldsman as your go-to guy can’t be helping you make good movies.

I was thinking the same thought. I got to wondering how this novel could have been made into a good film? What if it was a film about making The DaVinci Code into a movie? Starring a cut-up actor in the role of Langdon who puts on the whole serious thing when the cameras are rolling, but then ridicules it between takes. “Hey guys, the book says I’m Harrison Ford in a tweed suit, and you gotta admit - this is a tweed suit!” Actually, Tom Hanks would be perfect for the role. I see Topher Grace playing the overrated director who is just concerned with cramming every detail of the novel into picture and making sure those details are explained to the audience in breathtaking detail. Meanwhile a Catholic Bishop (Wayne Knight) goes nuts about protecting the image of the church in between his shuffling of pedophiliac priests to new parishes. Ian McKellen plays an actor in the film with a cameo role who goes to great lengths to skewer the material by comparing it to the classics. Throw in John Malkovich as a neurotic, conspiracy-obsessed Dan Brown who is working on his sequel (The Buonorotti Code) and you got yourself the makings of a pretty entertaining flick!

Brilliant! Especially John Malkovich as Dan Brown. That was a nice touch.

Damn you Baldwin, I wanted to reference Eat My Dust :frowning:

Captain Lance Murdoch
I’d like to add another character to your fine production. How about Clint Howard as the wacky “DaVinci Code” neighbor?

Have you seen Tristam Shandy?
