Ron Jeremy hates the net

You do realize that that is exactly what happened, do you?

And it wasn’t a bad thing.

The caterwauling over the internet is largely based on two things, neither of which I buy:

  1. The ongoing assumption that “kids today are dumber than they used to be” as the underpinning evidence that the phenomenon in question - in this case the Internet - is bad. But there’s no evidence kids today are dumber than they used to be. There never has been. Adults have ALWAYS said this, and it’s always been baloney.

  2. The curious propensity of people bemoaning other people’s ignorance to then turn around and suggest that a solution might be… more ignorance. Reducing the availability of information is just promoting ignorance, after all.

I’ve no doubt the Internet has had, and will continue to have, unexpected societal consequences. But we don’t know what they’ll be - that’s why they’re unexpected - and so given a choice, I’m voting for the choice of less ignorance and more information. The Internet offers the chance to disseminate huge amounts of information, so I say let it loose.

And you were kind enough to not mention Ron working without Annette!
