Tabloid journalism, the style of sensationalising and selective reporting to spin a (usually) political point. Not specifically the newspapers, if you ever see me looking at a red-top it means the pods have got me, just Kill! Me!
They’re trying to conjure 25 full frames per second out of 50 interlaced fields. The 25 full frames have to be interpolated, i.e. guessed at, by looking at two adjacent fields. Interpolation is imperfect, so you inevitably lose some detail. Watch the relaunched Ski Sunday - they have ski race footage on the main programme, filmized of course. But on the companion programme on BBCi they have extended race footage, in the original unfilmized video. The picture quality is better, even though the BBCi channels have a lower bitrate than BBC2.
