That’s awesome news! My best wishes to you and Marcie, LouisB.
Thank you for scaring Mr. brown away from cigars. He had developed a three-cigar-a-day habit and kept telling me that cigars weren’t dangerous “because I don’t inhale them”, but we all know that cigar smoking can bring about cancer of the mouth and tongue. I told him about this thread and he quit.
I hope he continues to avoid the habit—I’m glad to have been able to illustrate the danger. From what I was told, smokeless tobacco and cigars are pretty well tied as being the most responsible for oral cancer.
First: Hurray!!!
Secondly, out of pure morbid curiousity, what part of the tongue got chopped? Top side? Bottom side or like a hole punch on the side of a paper. Can you still taste all the flavors? And lastly, will whistling now be a messier affair? What was your favorite ice cream during this recovery time? Were your nurses cute?
Thank you for your prompt attention in these Burning Questions!
The cut was on the bottom side of the tongue; a rough circle, about the size of a quarter, with a depth of approximately half the thickness of the tongue. As for as I can tell, taste is not effected. I haven’t been able to whistle since the first surgery, nearly twenty-five years ago. Vanilla is the only ice cream for me, although an occasional tres leches con mango isn’t to be despised. My darling Marcie was my only nurse and she is way cute.
No radiation is required, thank God. At this very moment, I am chomping a Steakburger and washing it down with a Vanilla Shake----I’ve been doing that a lot for the last several days.
