Router-Fire Wall conflict

Below, is the message that I get from my firewall software, 2-4 times a day. It can come when I boot up and at random times during the day. I changed the address because it is my Router’s. As far as I can tell, the router seems to be pinging my firewall, causing the softeware to report an attempt invade my system.

The message is like this:

From 555.555.5.5 send to local machine
Protocol:UDP Sending port: 67 Receiving port: 68
Comments:Blocked attempts to access local ports
Operation:Block traffic

Tech Support has no clue. Can you tsuggest what might be going on? think the “send” should be “sent” but I don’t know for sure.

Those ports are used for DHCP traffic. DHCP is a service to provide an IP address, DNS, gateway, and other information to computers on your network.

It sounds like the router is trying to obtain a DHCP address from your network. I don’t know why it would do that, Routers generally have static IP addresses, due to the nature of what they do.
