Some sites have an orange XML button that indicates they have an RSS feed. When I click on them I just get a window with the RSS XML doc. Is it somehow supposed to automaticaly add the site to my list of news feeds? What do I need to do to make this happen.
You need an RSS/XML reader.
What browser are you using? Some browsers have an RSS/XML reader inbuilt. Internet Explorer does not have this feature.

Yes. It works kind of like a bookmark, only you can click the bookmark and get a listing of whatever is currently in the feed. Both Firefox and Opera have RSS readers built in.
