Woo hoo
And so the hopes of an entire hemisphere weigh on the shoulders of Scotland.
gulp
So far doing surprisingly well, although OZ have missed two conversions
Make that 3
So, first half the Aussies have scored three tries, and Scotland are still ahead. Oh God, the hope, the hope…
Shows what I know about the Ireland-Argentina match. Meanwhile, I’ll stick my neck out and say that a point up at half-time against Australia isn’t enough.
That’s not sticking your neck out all that far. ![]()
FFS that’s a fucking terrible decision - deliberate knock-on and a yellow my fucking arse
Quite a battle in progress
Good lord they may do it
Wow that was something. Australia are very very lucky
It’s the hope that kills you, in the end.
Im Scottish. Im content enough at that result. We really ran the risk of having our asses handed to us further on in the tournie. The Aussies probably just about deserved the win.
It was an awesome game ( ok I was following along on the guardians play by play ) and Scotland can certainly head out with head held high after that.
Somewhat hopeful for a more balanced Arg/Aus match now.
Hope is the mask despair wears to get past your guard.
Son is beside himself. I’m beside myself. That is the classic Scottish heroic loss, and I have seen enough to be used to it, but I’m not.
In affectionate remembrance of

Same here man. I was 10 in 1978, you’d think I’d have learned over the years.
Well bugger me senseless. Being English I’m used to the odd bit of cruel luck and dodgy decisions over the year, but with less than half the ball and barely a third of the territory Scotland nearly crafted a miracle.
Not that they’ll be winning a World Cup in my lifetime but even so, that was a hairsbreadth away from being fucking epic.
I’m all for the “no disrespect to the refs” and all, but that was fricking ridiculous.
Not sure Scotland were actually “the better team” or anything, but it’s sad to see the refs screw up games like that.
The four matches this weekend were absolutely awesome by the way, a real advert for the sport. Also quite a difference with the footie wolrd cup, which seems to tighten up the further you get… which means fewer and fewer good games. Seems to be the opposite here.
Poor, poor Scotland, what a horrible way to lose.
Argentina looked excellent against Ireland, should be a good match between them and Australia.
polar bear in past RWCs the knockout games have been much more dour, it just seems we’re in a phase that favours attacking rugby at the moment.
