Would it be possible to have a rule where profanity, insults, etc, were not to be included in the thread title?
I like to read The Straight Dope in several different venues (work, public library, home, etc.) but with the proliferation of web-filtering, I’m finding that the SD is unaccessible when certain words show up in the titles, but not in the postings.
Even in the Pit, it’s not necessary to state “I am pitting (whoever)” or “Fuck (Them)” since we all know why you’re posting there. State the whom in the thread title and then elaborate as to why you are pitting them in your post.
I’m all for free speech here but what good is it if the public can’t access it?
