Just to be a dork, I looked up “Hive mind” in a google newsgroups search. the earliest instance of it I could find was here .
It is mentioned twice that year, and only sporaticaly throughout the next ten years, and then only in talk of incects or religious groups. In 1991 you start to get mentions of the hive mind as it relates to the Borg. You also get a few references to the Net as a hive mind, but none that I could find that were using it disparagingly as our pal here has. In 1992 this post comes tantalizingly close, but doesn’t quite make it. in 1994 This post refers to some kind of homosexual hive mind. Must remember to ask Esprix about that.
I think this post is the earliest use of “hive mind” as our pal used it, but then I grow weary of looking at all these things, and my judgement might be off.

What does this have to do with our friend Ukrates? Well, in breaking away from the SDMB “Hive Mind”, doesn’t he make himself dumber by tens of thousands of times?

Exactly, and this moaner is a lightweight who needs a lesson or two. USENET is the perfect Luser re-education tool for whiney 6tgh graders who complain about mods. Two days and he’d be crying to net-abuse groups and will be told to sod off. After that he’s somebody’s chew toy. He wouldn’t last three days, and would either learn life lessons or hide in fear from message forums ever again.
“People support me in email” _ The ultimate cry of a net-kook or whiner. If I made unpopular opinions and got support just in email, I’d say I had the support of cowards, at best.

That’s because all of us…I mean all of those who agree with Weak Tea are afraid that all of the SDMB brown-shirted goose-stepping borg will rain holy hell over our…I mean their lives from afar. So we’re…they’re (dammit, I’ll get it right eventually) planning an alternate ultra-secret organization to counteract the SDMB, AARP and the Mason and Illuminatis while we’re at it.
