Ruminations of the laundry room - Guest MMP number...?

I’m sure some people (read men) think that’s exactly what it is.

Oh, and it may be your doc likes you just enough. If he took you off, you are, A. getting into the at-risk age group, or B. you’ve been on it long enough to move into the at-risk group, age not withstanding.
It’s really hard to get your make-up on right when one side of you face droops and doesn’t move.

And I’m on the same team. I knew there was a reason I never shopped at Target.

Actually, I’m well aware that I’m in the at-risk group. What bugs me is that I don’t take the pill for contraception–gods know I haven’t needed it for that in longer than I care to think about. But my doctor (who I just started seeing recently when I decided to be a grownup and stop going to Planned Parenthood) didn’t listen to a word I said about the have-to-stay-home-from-work-one-day-a-month-'cause-of-the-puking cramps and sent me on my merry way.

Of course, I was still a little oogied about the “beautiful cervix” comment, and may not have presented my problem in quite the right way.

Ah. I understand completely. I had my one child at age 20. I was on the pill for 7 years after that. At 27 I had an epiphany. I realized, that I didn’t want any more children.
The first doctor I went to, told me I was “too young to make the decision for sterilization.”  I changed doctors promptly. I told the new one that I’d had dysmenorrhagia from menarche until I started the pill. He suggested I use mechanical birth control for 3 months to see if child birth had corrected it. If it had, he do a tubal ligation, but if not, he suggested a simple hysterectomy. That meant I’d keep the ovaries, the surgery would be vaginal, so no scar, and both my problems would be solved.
I used a nasty diaphram for about two weeks, when my first “natural” menses started. Same old. In bed crying, while bleeding half to death. I was scheduled for surgery the next week and never looked back. It was the best decision I ever made!

So many band names in that link, it boggles the mind.

Perhaps you meant to go somewhere like

::: pauses, looks for definition :::
Oh. :smack: Got it.
Serves me right for trying to be a know-it-all.

That site is full of sure googlewhacks, but I don’t want to bother looking.

I found out that someone after whom I have been lusting is planning on shaving lightning bolts in his beard tomorrow. At first glance, this seems harmless and irrelevant. It should be noted, however, that around 2 weeks ago, I told this particular man that I would sleep with him immediately if he were to ever shave lightning bolts in his beard. Tomorrow should prove to be an interesting day.

On a side note, I have a bone <snerk> to pick with K-Y Touch Massage. I got a sample of it at Wal-Mart, and apparently, it’s supposed to be safe in “even my most intimate areas”, and “gently warms on contact.” What it really does is cause horrible burning on contact with “my most intimate areas”. Thank goodness I discovered this by myself, and was able to spare the embarrassment of finding this out while with someone else, and subjecting them to screams the likes of which would make a 2-year-old’s temper tantrums sound like leaves falling on a quiet fall day.

I’m really sorry, the page won’t even open for me. I did sumting wrong…Wasn’t important anyway.

chaoticbear what is a googlewhacks? I must have overlooked that tutorial.

I’m not cb, but googlewhacks are words that get you only one result when you Google them. Specifically two words, without quotes, which get you a single result.

I’m up early, trying to get a few things (read: laundry) done before going off to work for a bit at the park where I volunteer.

Oh, and, Drae, switch doctors…

Off to launder.

chaotic bear -I am sitting here trying to envision lightening bolts in beard form.

I am not succeeding. Is it a forked beard? Hair color applied to resemble Harry Potter’s scar? Is his beard that stiff that it will retain such a shape (ew)?

Color me clueless.

Drae -your best bet is to either change docs or drown this one in data. When I wanted my endometrial ablation, I kept a record of my periods for the past 4 months–the amount and duration of bleeding etc. Keep in mind I went from every 28 days with flow for 5 days to skipping for 3 months and then bleeding for a month(!). At 43, I said, I am DONE with this nonsense. And I am–I will still go thru menopause etc, but at least I am not hemmorhhaging every other month and wondering if the tubal I had 5 years ago somehow didn’t take and I am pregnant the other months…

He told me to “see how I do” off the pill for a few months, and I’m going back next month for a checkup–Like the man hasn’t had me in his office three times in the six months since I started seeing him. I’d think he had a crush on me, if he weren’t old enough to have delivered me. Every female member of my friend’s family swears by this guy, but I don’t quite get it.

In the meantime, I am singlehandedly keeping the company that makes Aleve afloat, and I’m not taking no for an answer when it comes time to visit again. I realize that being almost 30 and a smoker is reason enough to keep me off the pill, but I might sell my soul for some muscle relaxers. In the interests of full disclosure, this doctor seems very old school–he seems to think that if I don’t get all my babymaking done in the next two years (which is entirely unlikely), all is lost.

I still say, find another doctor. Just because your friend’s family is comfortable with him doesn’t mean he’s right for everybody.

How’s hubby doing, picunurse?

I’ve successfully run the battery down on the new laptop and it is now re-charging. I really really like it, although it’s disconcerting not to have a real delete key (delete = backspace).

It’s nice to have something really little to move around with me when I get the urge to make lists, sit in bed and surf or just type, etc. The wireless stuff is really cool. I was expecting it to be slower than the wired connection, but it’s actually faster (or seems that way). I’m guessing it’s because this machine has more memory and a much faster processor than the other one.

Anyhoo, I have tons of stuff to do around here. Indoors, I need to do some major allergen removal (i.e. cleaning) and outdoors I need to get all the leaves raked, lawn mowed and a bunch of perennials cut.

Back after a while…

Oh, Drae --forget it, get another doctor. One who graduated after the Cold War. I have had no luck with old school OB/GYNE’s, believe me.
I have so much to do that I am doing nothing. Great.

Went to get offspring their passports and discover that youngest’s birth certifitcate is the wrong date. Gah- I dread the redtape needed to fix this one…
Also, my daughter is having her sixteenth b-day party tonoc. I am not ready for this–in any way. I don’t mind her being 16–I am not mentally prepared to “chaperone” a 60+ person party tonoc. It’s in our church hall.

I keep chastising myself for not being wholehearted about this. I keep trying to figure out why. It feels self-aggrandizing to me.

Am I crazy? On second thought, don’t answer that!

Does “tonoc” mean ‘tomorrow night’?

Is this an MMP term?

Sorry for being dense.

Shaving lightning bolts in it as in the old 80’s style of using buzzers to carve stuff in hair. The lightning bolts will be in negative space, surrounded by hair. At least, that’s what I envisioned. He may go another route.

So… you may be getting lucky soon? I’ll just sit over here in the corner and live vicariously through you. No, really, I’m fine. Don’t worry 'bout me.

Either I’ve suddenly become seriously dislexic (more than usual anyway) or there is something wrong with that page.
If I forgot to wish anybody Happy Birthday, or express sympathy to anybody, consider it done, please. I’m not going back to find out at this late date, sorry.

Happy Saturday everyone.

I have no idea what I did wrong that isn’t what intended at all. The link I thought I’d made was to a web MD site with the definition

Back from another lovely day in Annapolis, although it was chillier today than last week. I had a really good ceramics class - I think I finally figured out my centering problem! With one throwing class to go, I’ve thrown 15 pieces, and I figure I can do 3 more next week. Then we glaze. Then we’re off till February.

After class, we grabbed a quick lunch - well not so quick - the service was very, very slow. But the food was pretty good. Then we met with our boat broker and saw 4 different boats - 2 in the water, 2 “on the hard” - trying to get an idea what we might want once ours sells. (At least 2 people have called about seeing ours, so we’re a bit optimistic for the moment.) The two in the water were the best contenders - a Catalina 34 and a Catalina 30. FCD isn’t really interested in the 30 - he thinks we should get a heavier vessel. The way I see it, a 30 would be an interim boat for use in the Chesapeake to be followed by something bigger after retirement. But that’s probably not the best plan.

So right now, the top contenders are a Catalina 34 and the Hans Christian 36 we saw last week. Shopping will continue.

Meanwhile, we’ve got a fire crackling and we’re relaxing. Tomorrow will probably be a leaf-blowing day, unless it’s too windy in the wrong direction. Other than that, nothing exciting on tap. Just chillin’ on a chilly weekend.

I don’t know. I hope. He claims that he’s too old for me, but he’d actually be the youngest person I’ve ever had sex with.

MMPers! I have new hair!. Actually, that link won’t work unless you’re a facebook member, so you can peruse them all here.

It’s reddish… I don’t really know yet if I like it or not, but I’ll figure it out.

Everyone don’t ignore me all at once.
