Ruminations of the laundry room - Guest MMP number...?

Am off to get my hair cut at noon today! Yay.

I forewarned the gal that I have thick hair. And she said something odd. She said, “May I ask if this is African American hair or Caucasian hair?”.
Having never been to the Caucauses, I said I was white. Mebbe my hair ain’t so thick afterall…

Having Indian hair, which is somewhere in-between those two extremes, I know where she’s coming from. My hair is not thick at all, actuully kind of thin, but it behaves differently. I can run a comb through it and remove every snarl and literally by the time I bring the comb back up to the top it’s got small tangles again (it’s curly). Mine needs to be wet to comb it out properly.

Sigh. I need to get mine cut, too methinks.

Why, chaoticbear is a young whippersnapper!

I don’t have much to say this morning. I have an HOA meeting tonight - I’m on the board until our next election (which is in January) and I cannot WAIT to be out of this. Ugh.

I woke up with a migraine this morning and called in to say I would be late, or maybe not come in at all. Now I’m up, I feel mostly better, and I’m trying to decide whether I should take a shower and go into work, or if I should stay home, do my laundry, wash some dishes, spend some quality time with my cats, and write some. There’s no question which is the more appealing prospect. sigh

I am such a slacker.

Speaking of haircuts, I’m probably due for a trim soon. Just a trim, mind you. I’ve never had long hair, and seeing that I’m, well, at the age where a m** l*** c***** is expected and justified, I decided to start growing it. You know, as an expression of my true self, my inner child, that sort of thing.

It’s now shoulder length, the longest it’s ever been in my entire life. My goal is somewhere between the shoulderblades.

Hmmmm…

And then I’ll invade Botswana…

Man, we’re *all * thinking about getting our haircut. Collective consciousness. We should all do it at the same time!

By the way, not only did I not buy any suits this weekend, I didn’t even go in the suit store. How’s that for restraint? Is everybody proud of me?

Well, I know what to be. I’m excited. Nice pics.

I took the day off yesterday – I was supposed to go and meet a couple of people (clients are people too, really!) but decided to take a day off. As follows from that, today and tomorrow will be uber-busy. Oh well, I enjoyed yesterday, although I didn’t do what I intended to do with a sudden day off. I kept telling myself I should work on my NaNo (I’m so far behind it ain’t funny) but I ended up reading a very long but very good online tutorial on perl.

My dinner wasn’t spectacular although it was good. I had Chinese take out. Orange chicken, sweet ‘n’ sour pork, chow mein. (I didn’t feel like cooking.)

I need a trim, too. My hair is a bit longer than shoulder-length (and I haven’t had a trim since… summer, I think).

I’m proud of you, swampy!

Depends. Does the back hair connect to the stomach hair around your sides, or over the top, or across the taint?

I’ve never gotten that particular compliment, but thanks nonetheless.

I have lost my sideburns, though. I was there with a lady friend who suggested that maybe sideburns all the way down to my chin maybe wasn’t appropriate. That and I’m thinking about dying my hair, but I don’t know what color. Something with a little red in it, I think. Maybe like a light brown/red kind of color. I’ll figger it out, because the next day that this lady friend and I both have off together is next Monday.

Well, all 3, I guess, but what I was getting at was that it was around the sides.

That’s it. Feydeau, an email from my best friend, and the shiny Episode III collector’s coin I flipped all tell me the same thing–don’t bother going to work. And the coin told me in the Darth Vader voice.

Thank you all.

And I need a haircut, too. But my hair is funny. It’s finally at the length where if I leave it alone and just let it be, it will start to grow faster. Normally, it gets to my shoulders, then it takes about a year and a half to make the push to the top of my back. Since it just got there, I can’t cut it now. I should get the split ends taken care of, but last time I went to get it cut, there was a tragic accident that left me looking like a soccer mom. Or even worse, left me looking like my mom.

You know what would have been really, really funny? If that had been a quote by donkeybear talkin’ about his back hair.

::cough::?

Well, I just registered for my classes for spring semester. I had to do it online with a quickness. Registration for juniors just opened up today, and already there are 19 people in the Elementary Spanish II class that I wanted to get into. Thankfully, there was still room, because the other 3 sections of it are taught by this total asshat whom I had for French this semester, and who sucked really badly. What’s even funnier, though, is there are exactly 10 people in the other 3 sections. Not each. Total.

But thumbs up! My schedule is now finished (except for one class which the computer tells me that I don’t have the prerequisites for, even though I do, but I got AP credit for them so it thinks that I don’t have them for some reason even though they’re on my transcript.) (Text in previous parentheses was meant to be read all in one breath.)

Sorry I missed this! I got flirted with! By a guy! ::sticks out tongue at swampy, hopefully to arouse jealousy::

(Tonight at 6: Area man can’t get his stuff together and think of everything that he wants to write in one post instead of 3.)

I should be jealous because you got flirted with or because I didn’t get flirted with? :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s a hennin. It’s 15th century.

Yes, I was in the SCA for a bit. Any other costume history tidbits you’d like to know?

You guys have been impressively busy. Three pages by Tuesday? I only missed one day! I had to read all sorts of stuff about snakes and dryers and TMI about Mika and grumpiness and history tests. It’s exhausting.
My Exciting News:

Last night the Lissar Household purchased a new computer. A new computer! That won’t have a fan next to it to keep it from overheating and blowing up! With a dvd burner and a much larger hard drive! Which will be able to run games that aren’t from 1995! Amazing!

Besides that, Mr. Lissar is making exciting inroads into combining and cooking soup from cans, and adding excitng spices and stuff. Unfortunately Aerin thinks that anything he’s doing with a can must mean salmon for the kitties. She can scream really loud if she thinks there’s salmon and she’s not getting any.

Mika, do you have a nice, soupy, simple dal recipe you could share? Something that you can soak up with naan, if I ever get around to making naan.

I flirted with you in another thread a couple of weeks ago but you ignored me.

I think. (I flirt too much.)
