I’m very good at putting things off. So I’d be glad to help you!
Gawdddd, I’m so bored today at work. I’m working on a huge assembly drawing (I’m a designer) and it just takes soooo loooonnggg to regenerate. I’m almost done, I hope.
Chicken and dumplings for dinner. Someone upthread inspired me. Swampy, I think. I use bits of refrigerated biscuit dough for the dumplings. Very easy, and tender. Mmm.
Well, I had to put off the bathroom–my son “forgot” to go to chess club-so I had to take him back to school, and I am now making dinner–pork chops and cheesy rice (oops, am supposed to be sophistimicated and say risotto)…
I’m hungry.
Unfortunately, my weekend was rated X, having attended Bear Invasion in Washington, DC, (which involves several after-hours parties with a specialty-purpose dark room) so details would not be appropriate for this thread. For $10 American, I can, however, email them…
Well, not “unfortunately” from my perspective. It was rather enjoyable, to tell the truth. I meant unfortunately from the perspective of having MMP-appropriate stories to tell…although I can tell the story about how I had a search party looking for me in the Museum of Natural History on Saturday afternoon or the one where I made a scene in the Metro and then found out I was wrong about the thing I made a scene about. But otherwise it was fun.
(Severly edited short version.)
Last Friday was our little town’s First Friday Art Walk, where we do about 10% of our monthly business from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. There was also a Holiday Bazaar at the local University Fri. and Sat. during the day, which Wifey covered, where she did twice the business I did, so, all-in-all, our weekend turned out to be very profitable, but between getting ready for both events, and then working them, we were totally exhausted by the time Saturday night rolled around.
Sunday we did pretty much nothing.
Yesterday I made a trip to Costco, where I bought a little refrigerator for the shop, among other things, out of our new-found wealth.
Today I cleaned up the shop a bit and brought the books up to date.
I volunteer to be the flashee. It’d be lost on theses guys, and I’m perfectly willing to take two for the team.
Obviously donkeybear is not majoring in math. There are, as of right now four of us gay type folks participating in this thread. They are as follows: jayjay, Feydeau, gotpasswords, donkeybear and moi.
Stoopit cholesterol. Stoopit cholesterol meds. My Dr called in my Lipitor (Is there a generic??) and the copay on my 90 day supply was $53!!! And I’m on the lowest dosage, since my cholesterol isn’t too bad. Criminy - I can’t imagine what people without insurance have to pay.
Lessee, what else? We took our mower to be fixed today. Last time FCD used it, he had a hard time getting it started, then it just died for no apparent reason when he was just about done. So we loaded it on our trailer and took it to a shop recommended by one of my coworkers (just happens to be run by his kin) - I’m hoping it’s not too pricy to fix. Maybe just a carb rebuild??
On the good news side, I think the calamine is taking care of the poison ivy. And it’ll be better news if Lowe’s calls tonight to tell me my washer is in. FCD did a load of towels today and hung them in the laundry room with a fan blowing on them. With luck, the next load will be in the new appliances.
I saw a couple of deer the last 2 days during my morning walk. Yesterday, it was a young buck crossing the street about 30 feet ahead of me. Today it was an older buck walking in a clearing in the trees - he stopped, turned, and looked at me. I love this nature stuff!
And I also need a haircut, but I haven’t found anyone around here who does a decent job for me. My hair is straight, fine, and thinning. The right side will lay nicely, but the left side is kinda uncontrolled. A perm might help, but I don’t want to spend 3 hours in a salon. So I’ll be shaggy till I get fed up with it. Stoopit hair. My stoopit sister got the thick, wavy hair. Of course, she’s younger, and she’s got gray already, so I guess I win after all.
Five. I’m counting five gay posters right now. I may have missed someone.
I am willing to link to the pics of the shirt I made a while back, if it will comfort Sean. Or some of the Hallowe’een pics from the club. I’m sure that there were some very skimpily dressed girls there. Not me, though- I was dressed as a pre-sinking Numenorean. I like saying that. Pre-sinking Numenorean.
Anyway, not skimpy.
I should make dinner and sammiches for work. We’re having something like ratatouille only without eggplant, because I don’t like it, and feta dip. I’m draining yogurt right now. I could have bought labneh but it’s pretty expensive, and all you have to do is put some yogurt in a sieve with a coffee filter and leave it.
We have bread, buns, English muffins, and pita all over the couch. Maybe I should do something about that. Driving Husband and Attacks Husband are coming over later, and they’ll need somewhere to sit.
Lissla since the bread is all over the couch, just tell Driving and Attacks Husbands to go sit in the bread box. Problem solved and you don’t have to lift a finger. I do try to be helpful whenever I can.
The sketti and meatballs were so yummy! I sent ACBG home with lunch tomorrow. Salad, sketti and meatballs. Yes, I said I sent him home. Poor thing has to be at work early, early tomorrow so no spend the night party tonight. Not to worry though, we’ll make up for it.
I need caller ID here by the computer. I picked up the phone and some sweet young thing from Purdue called me to “update my information” - right before she asked for money, I’m sure. So I told her I wasn’t interested and I hung up. Sheesh, I graduated in 1979 and never sent them a penny. The only reason they found me was because, like a dummy, I filled out on Classmates that I went to Purdue. They didn’t know my married name before that, and my folks had moved, so they had no way to track me. Till I revealed myself.
Can you tell I’m none too fond of the alumni association?
I’m out of soup!!! This is a tragedy. I was all ready for my last serving of Get-Well Garden Soup. I looked high and low. Maybe I left it outside the fridge somewhere? And then I remembered: the last bowl was lunch. (Where’s the weepy smiley?)
So I’m having cornbread with melted cheese and contemplating my remaining options. I’d just like to report that I thought about c-n-d on Sunday because there was a coupon for Reames noodles in the paper and I thought it was about time to have them again.
Important SDMB Newsflash: WE MADE THE BEGINNER’S GUIDE! Of course, it needs some more specifics - I’m pretty sure swampy wrote the specifics in last week’s MMP so I’ll go look for them and link them to that thread…)
I too am ignoring all wax-related comments.
I laughed when I opened your link, Lissla, because the focus was initially on the woman dressed as a pilgrim (or something) and I couldn’t understand what was even vaguely not work-safe about her.
What does it say about me that I also failed to count five in swampy’s listing of this week’s gay posters? Four seemed about right. Also not a math major.
And in answer to your Lipitor question, FCM: no Lipitor doesn’t have a generic. I’m pretty sure none of the statins is available as a generic yet.
Puggy, I hereby nominate the line “Isn’t it about time for something to pop out of a dog?” as the official MMP secret code for “Shouldn’t Rue be showing up in here about now?” I giggled. And thanks for the hair taming product tip. Might be worth searching for…
Gotta go post quickly to that other thread and then get some work done. I’m having that kind of week. Good thing I have Friday off.
