Damn, after this sale I will have enough games to last me a lifetime.
Prey for $2.25? That’s serious impulse purchase pricing there!
And I recently installed a second hard drive in my main gaming PC and moved my entire Steam catalog onto it. The new drive is a 1TB monster and it is almost half full after the move.
Well, I may as well come out and say this…
I think that Killing Floor sucks. Big time. I had a bunch of friends recommend it, I played it once for about two hours, and I wish I could sell it back for $1.
Stupid, repetitive crap.

Anyone that doesn’t have Orange Box should get it now. That’s a freakin’ awesome gaming deal.
Is Portal worth the 14.99? I already have HL2 and I didn’t like TF2 but I can potentially have an extra copy of HL2 to gift.
Wait, can you give a game you don’t wany any more?
-Joe
No. But, from what I’ve heard, if you have two copies of a Valve game, you can give the extra as a gift. It doesn’t work with non-Valve games though.
Hmm, I don’t know why, but the Prey deal is gone and now it has Bioshock for $5 in its place.
Hmmmmmm…
Aha:
Its a short game, a few hours at most if you don’t go insane with the achievements. That said i would have gladly paid ten times that, its the best game of the last decade IMO.
I thought this as well, but I bought the Rockstar pack and now have one extra copy of Grand Theft Auto Vice City showing up in my Steam games list. Clicking on it allows me to send it as a gift, so the one extra copy deal seems to have expanded beyond just Valve properties.
New daily deals:
Stormrise $7.50
Jade Empire: Special Edition $3.75
Company Of Heroes: Tales of Valor $7.50
Mr. Robot $2
King Arthur - The Role-playing Wargame $20
Silent Hill Homecoming $10
Does anyone know if any of these are particularly worthwhile?
The one game I’m holding out for is the Witcher. It’s currently $13, but it may go on super-special; if it doesn’t, I’ll buy it the last day of the sale.
The Company of Heroes expansion packs can be played standalone, as in you don’t need the first game to play them, you just don’t have access to the units/campaigns from the other games. I don’t know what would happen if you tried to play tales of valor online though, I guess you’d only be able to play the new special game modes in it and not the regular game.
You can get the Company of heroes/opposing forces expansion combo for $15 and then adding Tales of Valor comes to $22.50 total. I’d say it’s worth it if you like WW2 and RTS games, the games are very well done. I got them all as part of the THQ pack. I probably wouldn’t get it alone though, since the previous two games have the bulk of the normal armies, game modes, and campaigns, and the third one introduces new custom modes. Unless it allows you to play normal games online with just Tales of Valor, which is possible… read some reviews. If it does, definitely worth $7.50.
Mr. Robot… haven’t tried it but anything over an 80 metacritic rating that cost $2 has to be worth it. I’ve heard good stuff about Jade Empire, never played it.
Today’s daily deals:
Max Payne $2.50
Max Payne 2 $2.50
Osmos $2
Left 4 Dead $7.50
Fifa Manager 10 $33.49
Civilization 4 $6.79
Civ 4: Beyond the Sword $6.79
Civ 4: Colonization $10.19
You can also get the Max Payne game bundled for $3.75, so if you want t hem both, do it that way.
Osmos is a clever game easily worth $2. You’re a blob of… something in a free floating newtonian (albeit 2d) environment, and you eject your mass in in different directions to control yourself. You can absorb any blob smaller than you, or get absorbed by bigger ones. From there thare are like 9 different game types. I recommend it.
If you haven’t played a L4D game, it’s worth $7.50. L4D2 is better in pretty much every way, but the original is also good, and obviously cheaper.
Holy crap, there’s a lot today to tempt me. FIFA manager not so much, but each of the others looks pretty good to me.
They changed it up, which is weird. They removed the Civ 4 expansion packs, but added Call of Duty: World at War for $25. Edit: You can still get a Civ 4 complete pack for a little under $25 as part of the regular sale.
I read about this on reddit. Apparently, its some sort of tower defense type game, but with some resources and power requirements. It had a few decent comments, so I threw it in my bucket to download when i get home from work. I figure, for $2.50 I can afford to support a struggling indie publisher. And who knows, the game may be as much fun as the trailer makes it look.
Edit: Follow up to SenorBeef’s comment - Osmos plays very much like the very beginning of Spore, but without the evolution. You basically just get bigger. It’s enjoyable enough for a couple bucks.
I’ll have to check that out, Roulette! I’m getting close to the end of Defense Grid, and I’m enjoying it a lot: tower defense games are right up my alley.
