I oculdn’t find any No-CD patches, so no, it’s probably not possible. But I have your same problem. I use the progam alot, but I hate having to put the disk in every time I use it…
I have used MS S&T 2001 and 2002, both have the options of installing direct to the HD, so I suggest reinstalling. Other then that you might be able to search the registry and make it look somewhere else (where you copies the CD to your HD.
There’s an application called “FantomCD” that could make your computer think that Streets & Trips was always in the CD drive… but doing it that way is overkill. I suggest using kanicbird’s idea.
I searched the registry, but could find no references to the location of the CD. I haven’t used regedit since Win95, so it’s possible that I’m unfamiliar with a change in use.
It’s been a while (a year) since I installed my software on a then-new computer, but I have MS Streets and Trips so it runs without the CD in the drive. It may be that some features (that I don’t normally use for casual route finding and mileage checking) would call on the CD, but up to now I haven’t needed it.
Sorry, but I forget which options I used when I installed it. Could hard drive free space be an issue? I have 20 Gig (or did have) so there was plenty of room to install it at the time IIRC.
By coincidence, I just installed S & T yesterday, and part of the install is whether to do the 900 MB full install with no CD required, or the 350 MB partial install which requires the CD. So as others have said, try re-installing it.
