Hell, I’m just trying to understand one of those opinions. When Rush says that sports reporters are liberal, do his millions of viewers knowingly nod their heads at their radios?
AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO DOESN’T KNOW?

I have always thought of Apple as having a left-leaning vibe and it’s been a media darling for a long time though that may be changing a bit now. I have no idea what Rush is talking about.
Personally I am mildly left leaning, interested in tech and prefer Android to the iPhone.
Wait, I thought Apple products were for hippies.
Ok, wasn’t Rush a sports announcer for a minute? And didn’t he get fired for making a racist remark? I assumed that’s where it comes from (because obviously anyone who disagrees with Rush is, by definition, a liberal).
Yes, found it: Limbaugh's comments touch off controversy - ESPN
Although now I can’t see anywhere if he was fired. Whatever. I would guess this is where the concept started.
He might be on to something. I am VERY liberal and own a Samsung smart phone.
Oh, wait! I also own an iMac and a Macbook.
I am so confused…
I assumed he was paid vast amounts of money to have striking opinions about politics but then I might not be in his target demographic. Perhaps rank-and-file conservatives really are deeply interested in sprinkling their immigration and abortion debates and calling Obama a socialist with a dose of the perceived liberal mechanizations of Techspot.com and their agenda of bringing down the conservative Apple behemoth.
I’m posting from my Samsung Galaxy Skyrocket, and all this time I thought I was fairly right-wing. Most of the privacy and tech people I deal with at law school, though, are big on open source, rooting, flashing custom ROMs, etc. (or blackberry, because we’re Canadian). They see Apple’s closed system and DRM legacy as an extension of shitty IP policy by the US and its allies.
I can…almost…see where Rush is coming from. But I think the left/right divide doesn’t make all that clear sense in tech. I could be a dyed in the wool republican, and still hate patent law and how expensive my smartphone costs are, couldn’t I?
Only Republicans can afford Apple products.
Probably bought at $600, too.
Oh, hadn’t you heard? Republicans are the working class, blue collar, salt-of-the-earth TRUE AMERICANSTM!!! Only elitist liberals drinking fancy cappuccinos can afford smartphones, probably. Republicans make due with two old soup cans and a string!
BOOTSTRAPS!!
THIS POST IS INTENDED AS SATIRE AND IS NOT A REFLECTION OF REALITY. ALL SIMILARITIES TO PERSONS EITHER LIVING OR DEAD ARE STRICTLY A COINCIDENCE AND SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN AS SIGN OF INSULT TO ANY MODS.
It was just a year or two ago that some Texas town turned down Apple’s request for a permit to build a factory. Imagine that. We don’t want no Apple factory. Why? Apple gives benefit to same sex couples on the same basis as heteros.
Well there you go. Anything that poor people hate must be good! And therefore, conservative.
So if Apple is for conservatives and Android is for liberals, I wonder what a libertarian would use. Windows ?
Yes: no reason to suddenly suspect early-onset dementia when he’s had this shtick for going on 3 decades.
I’m fascinated at the decision to do a 180, here. Apple has always been associated (deliberately by themselves and sneeringly from anti-fans) with various “alternative” groups, like aging hippies, creative types, hipsters, etc.
And rand-and-file Democrats do none of this.
They never cite their own opinions about things, make ridiculous remarks, and make derisive comments over every republican person that makes an opinion or hate them for their views.
It’s strictly a republican thing right?
Listen to political talk shows to hear the host rail on about how Android is the best and the conservative media techblog conspiracy is keeping Samsung down?
No, they don’t. At least I don’t know of any liberal talk hosts who do this.
I’m on my third iPhone. All this time I’ve been giving aid and comfort to the enemy?
Rush has been an Apple fanboi for over a decade, and a technophile for longer. Just sayin’.
A blackberry? He also said Samsung was teh Evilz, so it’s possible that a libertarian could have an android phone made in China that violates 10,000 industrial designs and looks like an iPhone 5. ![]()
What’s weird is that Stephen Fry is also a huge Apple fanboi and technophile. And I’d say that ideally he’s the complete opposite of Rush!
