Rush Lyric Question

I have a freind who says he heard a Rush song with the following lyrics:

“conform or be casted out, in the shopping malls, in the highschool halls”

I couldn’t recall what song they were from off hand, and neither could he. Does anyone know what Rush song these lyrics belong to (if they exist at all)? Thanks!

And the words of the prophets were written on the studio walls…concert halls.

Sorry, that doesn’t help you, wrong Rush song.

The lyrics you cite do ring a bell, though…one of the newer songs, I believe.

“Subdivisions.” And I’m not even really a Rush fan.

Those lyrics might be a bit off, but are pretty accurate. I think it’s “cast out,” not “casted.” And the other two phrases might be in the reverse order in the song. I’m not sure; I haven’t heard the song in a while.

Thank you both, very much.

When the shootings at Columbine happened I thought about this song. Read the lyrics and look at the similarities, sort of spooky almost.

One time when I was, like, 15, I drank a beer and spun around in a circle really fast, while holding my breath, until I became dizzy and fell down, and then I listened to a song by Rush, and it was, you know, intense.

Yep, it’s the refrain from Subdivisions. The actual lyrics go:

And a link to the entire song

Those lyrics spoke deeply to me as a dorky band geek in the mid 80’s who felt very cast out of what was “cool and hip”!

Now I’m all grown up and I realize that I should have told those high school kids to fucko off!

I read the post and now I’m listening to the song. I enjoy rush. My wife can’t fuckin’ stand them. Anyway…

Rush are an awesome band. Any prog rock/metal fans on here?
