I first encountered him on SNL a few months ago, and he suddenly seems to be everywhere. Maybe that’s just confirmation bias, though. I find him pretty annoying.
Is his accent real? Not doubting that he’s English, but his accent seems… overly exaggerated.
I haven’t seen much of him but he was great in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Played an obnoxious rock star that was kind of likable no matter how much you wanted to hate him.
I agree he was very appealing in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but he’ll be the kind of actor who’s always playing himself. He can’t disappear into a role.
He comes across as remarkably intelligent for someone who looks and sounds like he came from the wrong end of town. He had a really rough upbringing and seems to have overcome numerous addictions – clearly he has an addictive personality. I wonder if Katy helps or hinders his recovery. He seems to really love her – I saw him speak of falling in love with her without a trace of irony.
I want to cut off his hair and give him a shave and make him wear normal-person clothes, not all that black rock star stuff we always see him in. I suspect he’s kind of funny-looking, not exactly good-looking without it, though.
I sincerely hope he stays physically and mentally healthy and finds long-lasting happiness. It’ll be a stupid waste if he goes back to his old ways.
I agree with so many of the things you said. Everyone seems to poke fun of the marriage, but I think (now it’s jinxed ) they’ll make it. Girls like her tend to marry men like him.
Funny, I thought you were going to say he seems like he’s from outter space. I think so. I can’t help but wonder if the son E.T. is about him. Catchy song either way.
Well they both come from Essex, a county to the east of London which is kind of the British New Jersey, and the butt of many jokes for being where flashy trashy working class made good East Londoners move to. To see what I mean, catch an episode of ‘The Only Way is Essex’, a popular British car crash docu-soap.
I wouldn’t say his accent is particularly exaggerated. His personal tone and stresses maybe, but that’s not just the accent per se.
Russell Brand is an absolute ass unless he’s sober. Then he can be witty and charming in his own special affected kind of way. Katy Perry is sort of an odd juxtaposition but they just might be good for each other. I question whether he is indeed an actor or she a musician though. More of a product which could prove stressful. Good luck to them both.
