Russell Brand?

Russell Brand seems to be one of the few celebs I’m really I suppose neutral on. Whenever I find I dislike him, he does something funny or does a charming interview. When I want to call myself a Brand fan, he acts high out of his mind and does a movie that’s not funny (Arthur). I think he’s kind of funny, but he can’t carry a movie.

Opinions on Russell Brand?

I don’t have a strongly negative opinion of him. But from what I do know of him, I find him (and his wife) sort of annoying.

He’s in what might be the worst adaptation of The Tempest ever committed to film. That’s about all I know about him, so we’re not off to a good start.

I’ve only seem him on a few occasions, and the word “douche” comes to mind.

Enjoyed him in Get Him To The Greek. Made me kind of a fan.

This. Haven’t seen anything else though, so jury is currently for the defendant…but we haven’t had lunch yet.

I kinda like him though!

It was a good movie. However, I think Jonah Hill really carried that movie and from what I’ve seen, I’ve not seen all og JH’s movie, isn’t as annoying as Brand can be.

I think he has some very interesting ideas in his stand-up, I just find his delivery and character really annoying.

I first saw Brand in a recent Secret Policeman’s Ball performance. I thought it was hilarious.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found anything else he’s done to be nearly as funny.

Thanks for posting that. I think he comes off very funny in stand up and interviews. I saw some clips of a show he had on youtube. He comes off as intelligent.

One thing I have to say is sometimes his accent is a bit annoying. He sounds like a child imo. He kinda has that Beckham accent.

Russell Brand in New York City is on Watch Instantly on Netflix, if you don’t think it’s funny then Russel Brand just isn’t for you.

He’s funny on The Big Fat Quiz of the Year.

But I’m like the OP - I expect to hate him, and then he turns out to be clever, insightful, articulate, and funny. But he’s a bit of a poser.

I agree, I wanted to see what he studied so I looked him up on wiki.

Holy. Shit. He had a hard childhood.

Him presenting Big Brother’s Big Mouth made the whole Big Brother concept bearable.

Ponderland is quite brilliant.

I class him like Jackass. I really shouldn’t like it but I just can’t help myself.

He’s kind of hit and miss with me. However, his persona is starting to get on my nerves.

He gets to rail out Katy Perry, so kudos to him. That’s about it, though.

I torture myself by watching the View, and I’ll always have a place in my heart for him just from watching him completely baffle and unsettle Shari “ignorant horny bad stereotype” Shepard and Barbara “senile rude self-centered twat” in two seperate interviews. I can’t provide links, but if you are a fan, Google them - they are hysterical!

Judging by his Wikipedia page, he seems to be a very troubled man with some problematic addictions and self destructive behavior. I see his future playing out similar to John Belushi’s, unless he is able to reign in his demons.

When I was outvoted by a group and resigned to seeing Arthur I was disappointed specifically because I don’t really care for Russell Brand, and have turned the channel away from him.

I was surprised to enjoy the movie more than I’d expected and thought he actually did a solid job. It’s emphasis is more on Romantic than Comedy. It was a sweet little movie.
