Russia without Marxist Comunism WWI til now - how different would history be?

What was the system called when Nicholas II consented to a Dumas?

Who said anything about the monarch being a Romanov? Britain asked William of Orange. Sweden asked a French general.

They didn’t have folks like Ivan Grozny, Peter the Great or Alexander III to deal with.

L’Ancien Regime, ou, Le Grande Monarchie. D’Artagnan played a prominent role as Lieutenant of the Tsar’s Musketeers.

Thanks for the great info every one!

The OP is assuming that Carl Marx had never published a book, and there was no Marxist communism to provide ideas - and the question is what would have filled that void, or how might things have gone differently without Marxism.

So why did the Provisional Government continue the war with Germany?

Marx did not invent socialism. The movement existed before he joined it.

It’s a bit murky, but my own guesses are that they felt that military victory would cement their position, they were going to (in theory) annex large parts of Ottoman Turkey, and they were being urged by the other western powers they were allied with to continue the war with the carrot being recognition of whatever government finally coalesced when they solidified power. It was a huge mistake and one that ended up costing them everything. The war was extremely unpopular, and though initially they did well against the Austrians, once the Germans focused on them the army was basically shattered, with a large percentage of them deserting and taking themselves and their weapons home…as well as a huge chip on their shoulders not only for being asked to continue to fight the war but because the PG had many soldiers caught deserting executed.
