Even with the political component, this is best suited to The Game Room. I’ll relocate it.
If they are corrupt, wouldn’t they be more likely to *favor *the Russians?
Nothing is how it seems in conspiracy-land.
As it happens of course WADA is not run by the IOC, it has equal representation from Governments but of course I’m sure that’ll just be taken as even more evidence of an anti-Russian conspiracy. Never mind the fact that the original evidence came from an independent media investigation in Germany, obviously they must be government shills as well.
Or Top Secret!
For an offshoot of a newspaper column that deals entirely with facts, people on this board tend to spout off without actually doing much reading. There’s a ton of information in the report, but CNN summarizes the five most damning things:
It’s not that a lot of Russians broke the rules, it’s that Russia’s entire system was in violation of international anti-doping regulations. For example, when you are supplied with false documents so as to hide your identity from drug testers while abroad, it goes beyond individual actors.
The whole thing came from a few fed-up Rusdian athletes who went “Deep Throat” to Germam journalist Hajo Seppelt, the Woodward/ernstein in this story. The end result was a commission set up under one of the few relatively honest men in the IOC, and here you go.
There is, however, a lot more coming. Anything currently under investigation by Interpol and/or French authorities was redacted. Yes, the Russians are far from the only violators but they are likely the only ones doing it on a national, almost industrial level.
This is what I’m thinking. The US ain’t done jack s— about ISIS, and can’t allow Russia to upstage them, so, they just put a little pressure on the IOC, and, voila! “Who’s ISIS? What we really need to focus on is Russia in the Olympics of 3 years ago!”
This is hilarious.
I seem to recall them being real bastards about something in…88? Something really petulant and childish…can’t remember what. Also, didn’t they also change some rules quite idiotically and arbitrarily around that time? Can’t remember…grr…
4) The sanctions being advocated seem rather harsh (“Kick the Russians out of the 2016 Olympics !!!”) I suppose we’ve forgotten about the cheating scandals that have occurred after pretty much every Olympics in modern times. Have I forgetten about when we banned France from the Olympics after that judging scandal? Or banned China from gymnastics for sending girls that were almost certainly well under the minimum age (16 years old)?

They don’t count…they aren’t rubbing Obama’s nose in anything, or crossing Biden on oil deals…
Doping threatens Kenya’s credibility at Rio Olympics: Rudisha’s coach
There must be a conspiracy motivating this too. Maybe it’s birthers on the US Olympic Committee going after Obama.
Ok, I’ve got a question.
What if doping was allowed and everyone was just expected to do it?
I mean isnt there a limit on its advantages?
Here’s what happens. ![]()
The suggestion that a WADA report is somehow evidence of an intergovernmental conspiracy would be amusing, except that this isn’t the YouTube comments section. Are you people fucking serious?
The truth! boring gullible people into creating fantasies since 1428.
I for one look forward to a Civil War between Russia and the IOC.
