It is pretty easy to identify these ships.

Ships in DNC photo are, from lead ship:
Frigate Krivak class unidentified
Frigate Neustrashimy class Neustrashimy
Destroyer Kashin class Smetlivy
Cruiser Kara class Kerch

Democrats FAIL

Oh NO! OMG! This could be just the substantive opening Team Romney has been looking for!

That’s just the break the McCain campaign needs. I feel the Joementum!

DNC apologizes: Comedy Central Official Site - TV Show Full Episodes & Funny Video Clips Due to vendor error, incorrect images appeared briefly on screen behind fifty-one veterans during the convention and the DNCC apologizes for this mistake," the [Democratic National Convention Committee] statement said. "This error should not distract from the words of Admiral Nathman and others who spoke to President Obama’s strong record on issues that impact those who have served our nation. We’re proud of the service and sacrifice of our veterans and military families, and while they were an important and active part our of convention, Mitt Romney failed to even mention them in his speech in Tampa.

moonshot925, apparently you’re still getting the hang of things around here.

No they weren’t. At least according to wikipedia, the earliest Neustrashimyy class vessel post-dates the fall of the Soviet Union.

But in anycase, I doubt some intern at the DNC grabbing the wrong clip-art is going to save the Romney campaign.

Two pics (one of US aircraft - one of Russian ships) were photoshopped together to put that on the ‘split screen.’ But, knowing the DNC is full of commies, I’d bet the guy who put this together knew those were Russian ships - and delighted in using them!

C’mon. We all know why. Er, don’t we?

Nudge, nudge, hint, hint.

Man: I mean, you’ve been around a bit, you know, like, you’ve, uh… You’ve “done it”…

Squire: What do you mean?

Man: Well, I mean like,…you’ve MADE a coherent point…

Squire: Yes…

Man: What’s it like?

Sorry. Your attempt to be humorous was already trumped by the example of Poe’s Law in the post that immediately preceded yours.

Neustrashimy was laid down on March 25, 1987. She was launched on May 25, 1988 and entered service on December 28, 1990. She became part of the Baltic Fleet on March 14, 1991.

All of this was before the Soviet Union dissolved on December 26, 1991.

So she was indeed a Soviet era warship.

Well, I guess you showed us.

Good to see that apology, for an error made on one image, now if only Romney would do the same for that fundraiser made in that caiman island yacht…

No, no, no. “Eternal vigilance in the price of liberty.” The patriots in the Democratic Party were testing just that.

We passed. Hurray!

So what?

Maybe you missed the news but, THE SOVIETS LOST THE COLD WAR.

Decades ago, in fact.

Good thing that Russia is, too.

Oh, wait…no, it isn’t, anymore. Sort of fell out of favor, as Kolak notes, a couple of decades back.

So, where did they square off against them?

Movies, and Tom Clancy novels. For conservatives, these are history books.

Hmm, is it possible that “Moonshot925” is really soon-to-be-former US Rep. Allen West (R-FL)?
