Rzorsharp's Gonna Cry...

hmmm?

I note that the practice of multiple news sources cross-checking each other (so that errors and misstatements will be caught) is superior to your advocacy of a group of people who are caught deliberately lying and then perpetuating those lies in the face of evidence that they are lying.

You continue to hold that steadfast lying in the face of evidence is somehow “better” than a system that allows for lies to be exposed. Now you want to associate me with Jim Jones for holding that position?
(You also deliberately misstated my position, later. I noted that the whole of the media (“disparate publications”) are needed for the system to work and you then whined that CBS’s forced retraction was somehow not an example of the system working. You then lied that a retraction is not a retraction if it is compelled–simple dishonest casuistry.)

You then went on to bolster my analogy of your position to that of people who hate science, indicating that you really do not understand the scientific explanation of evolution and confusing it with some more gibberish.

I’m not the one choosing Kool-Aid™. Even your insults are examples of muddled illogic.

I was ego-surfing the SDMB and here I find another pit thread on my favourite swine, and only got two little posts? Damn, I need to work on it.

The one thing I will say in my own defence is that I was quite civil to Razorsharp in a couple of threads, attempting to answer his posts, and attempting civil debate, at least until he called me a liar. Post #57

Shodan and John Mace - I admit, I kinda lost my cool there in Razorsharp’s latest troll I mean GD thread when I said ‘This is dumb even for you’.’ I don’t have a defence for that, as I should have known to do what my daddy taught me - never argue with a fool or a drunk, and never try to teach a pig to dance. Razorsharp is quite the swine, as well as being a fool, and trying to teach him to dance (or debate) merely wastes my time and annoys the swine. Kind of annoys me as well, to be honest.

Oh, and by the way, Razorsharp -

You are an idiot, although it is nice to see you finally admit it. And don’t worry, the voices in your head will keep you company when no one else will talk to you.

Quite possibly. Also woefully ignorant, an asshole, and a troll to boot.

I’m not sure how to express this more directly but…

duh!!

Of course it was due to the upcoming election. If it weren’t for the upcoming election, the story would be of even less relevance.

Well, it had no significance to me, but CBS must have thought it would be significant to somebody, and enough sombodies to cause a rise in ratings. The lack of significance (to me) is why I can’t get excited about this, and why i’m not inclined to see at an indictment of “the media” in general.

I’m not a kool-aid drinker (haven’t touched it in 25+ years) and your statement is pointless. CBS News has never “inflicted” anything on anybody. Frankly, the belief that the media “inflicts” is pure tinfoil hattery, as though the public is a repeated victim.

And the media does give people what they want, and they want to make a profit (well, except PBS). The public apparantly wants news programs, and since CBS is in competition with the news divisions of the other networks (as well an the internet, newspapers, magazines, etc) it’s in their interest to try to pick timely and interesting stories but not to blow their credibility by screwing up too often.

Right, and apparently none of them anticipated that Passion of the Christ would be successful. They also missed that whole Blair Witch thing. There’s a common term for a movie with unexpected success: a “sleeper”.

What’s your point? That studio executives aren’t psychic?

That’s rich. None of your ‘contradictions’ have merit, so you fall back on your default position; personal attack. Well, I’ll keep contributing to this thead as long as it interests me. You’re free to respond, or not, though I’m confident you’ll never be able to outargue me.

Goodness, I had forgotten all about the razorsharp/Dirty Little Secret incident and didn’t stay with it long enough to read the insults…until now. I’m afraid that pinhead sounds like a term of endearment compared with most of the things I’ve been called as a teacher.

I did try some of the links that others left for me – links to an earlier version of the essay and to razorsharp’s homepage, but those links don’t work anymore. I guess the essay has been removed.

Why do you allow others to manipulate you in that way? Why do our opinions, our words matter so much?

Prolly a need for validation.

Well, GomiBoy, I called you a liar because that is exactly what you are. In fact, you just told another lie when you wrote this:

What “couple of threads” are you talking about? The post that you linked is the first time I ever encountered you on these boards, and I called you a liar because that is exactly what you did when you claimed that:

See, you are a liar. I never call anyone stupid just for presenting an answer. Now, an answer acompanyed with a snide remark, maybe, but not necessarily. I let this

slide by, and even complimented your first post addressed to me and only took exception to one sentence which belied your whole post. But then you closed with this.

But I didn’t call you stupid, I just called you a liar, which is exactly what you are. You are the one who decided to take me on, unprovoked. Then when you get it in return, you want to throw a tantrum in th’ Pit. Like I said, you are a adolescent. A lying adolescent, and I just proved it.

As though the opinion of one who thinks that the label “Kool-Aid drinker” is a thoroughly disgusting term, reprehensible, and no better than calling someone a Nazi.

Kinda thin-skinned ain’t ya?

Me thinks you were just lookin’ for an excuse to call me a name. (More adolescents on the Dope.)

Duh, yourself. CBS ran the thirty-year old story in an attempt to alter the outcome of the election.

Bullshit, enough somebodies to cause a rise in the Kerry vote.

Another “duh” for you. It’s a figure of speech.

Except Janet Jacksons nipple.

Yeah, it was a “costume malfunction”. Take ya a big ol’ swig.

The people wanted “The Passion”, they didn’t want Janet Jackson’s nipple.

Everyone of my contradictions had merit and belied everything you said. Keep on drinkin’ that liberal flavored Kool-Aid.
It’s mind-altering !!

Why on earth would anyone need an excuse to call you a name? You’re the SDMB human punch dummy. Anytime anyone needs to let off some steam they can slap you around without fear of any repurcussions since other readers just think “Oh, it’s only Razorsharp. He probably had it coming.” and then proceed to have a nice big healthy gutlaugh at your expense along with everybody else.

For instance, I’m now going to call you a fluid-headed mental midget whose intellect could only be accurately assessed if dingleberries were a unit of measure. No excuse needed, since the biggest reason we have to keep you around is to hone our net-fu at your expense.

:wally

We all come to the boards for the interaction. See, I come to gore liberal sacred cows.

And on the Dope, it’s like clubbin’ baby seals.

It’s fun, but it’s so easy, that after awhile it gets boring.

Actually, I don’t think that’s it. Razorsharp could post to many other boards and have like-minded, non-critical thinking tyros say he’s the greatest voice of a generation. I don’t think he posts here to get validation, quite the opposite. He posts to get a rise out of people. It’s not necessarily the substance of his posts that is important to him, because, as shown again and again, he is blatantly wrong on legal issues, he invents conspiracies, and he draws conclusions without evidence. Rather, it is the reaction that he craves. I admit, the first time I got caught up in the Razorsharp web and tried to honestly and intelligently debate him. As did pravnik, yourself, and others. He’s not here for debate, he’s here to get a rise out of people, mainly intelligent people.

I feel bad for him since he seems to take a bit of unnecessary beatings (Kool-Aid for example), but any sympathy I have is lost on the delusional nature of his posts. The thing about Razor that is so incredibily frustrating (to me at least) is not necessarily his being wrong, it’s his continued insistence, in the face of all evidence, that he is right. And he continues to do so in this thread.

I guess that’s my longwinded way of saying DNFTT.

Wow, can I be just like you when I grow up? Ignorant, misinformed, paranoid, and an asshole? I sure hope so. That way I can just go through life and believe deep down that I am right, everyone else is wrong, and I just have to say so to make it true.

Look, jackass, when you’re wrong about something admit it. I did. I even apologized in the same referenced thread, to you, for acting inappropriately. You, however, did not.

Then go away. I for one won’t miss you, and the collective IQ of the board will go up a couple notches and the collective paranoia level will go down.

Posted for the benefit of Mr. Razorsharp.

But that would only confirm his opinion of how fnord “smart” he was. He needs to be validated as the great crusader against the Illuminati that can only occur in the presence of opposition–such as facts and logic.

Never have I seen someone whistle and cheer him on in the threads he starts. while there may be some who share his delusions, you’re not going to convince him he’s wrong, no matter how many cases you cite, points you make, or facts you emphasize. Trying to debate him is like pissing into the wind.

Well, ya see, I also lived through the Jim Jones episode as you claim to have. If you are telling the truth about your age, then you were either completely unaware of the world around you or entirely without empathy.

Comparing the People’s Temple dupes to your petty political enemies is insipid and callous. It is comparable to throwing around the Nazi label in that it trivializes horror. Not that I’d expect you to even understand that.

Yes, Janet Jackson’s nipple was dangerous! It could put somebody’s eye out!

These little one-line replies to my points are barely more than quips, and for the most part repeated and stale quips, too. You have nothing to offer, Raz, except amusement value. Like a masochistic clown.

Jerry Lewis?

Yes, except I bet Razor casually insults the French, too.
