Text of bill here.
[QUOTE=S. 720]
The bill prohibits U.S. persons engaged in interstate or foreign commerce from:
•requesting the imposition of any boycott by a foreign country against a country which is friendly to the United States; or
• supporting any boycott fostered or imposed by an international organization, or requesting imposition of any such boycott, against Israel.

So I, as a US citizen who occasionally buys things from other countries, would not be allowed to support a boycott of Israel by any international organization, and if I did so I would be subject to fines and imprisonment?
Can someone explain to me how this does not violate the 1st amendment? How could any US Senator think that this would ever fly?
Whatever one thinks of Israel’s conduct vis-à-vis the Palestinians, this makes no sense to me at all. What are Schumer and Gillibrand thinking?

It would also broaden the law to include penalties for simply requesting information about such boycotts.
Violations would be subject to a minimum civil penalty of $250,000 and a
maximum criminal penalty of $1 million and 20 years in prison.
