CNN is reporting his last, final words were “Muqtada al-Sadr”:

As a noose was tightened around Hussein’s neck, one of the executioners yelled “long live Muqtada al-Sadr,” Haddad said, referring to the powerful anti-American Shiite religious leader.

Hussein, a Sunni, uttered one last phrase before he died, saying “Muqtada al-Sadr” in a mocking tone, according to Haddad’s account.

This Google video made me laugh. It seems to be saying something about the “liberal media” by showing what ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX News were showing at the time of the execution.

None of the major networks broke coverage for the announcement, but Fox News, seeing as how it is a 24-hour “news” network, did.

In the eyes of whomever made this asinine video, that is proof of a liberal bias in the media.

Note, of course, that the video does not provide any information on what the regular (non-news) Fox network was showing at the time.

I’ve seen a YouTube version already, that cut away before the drop.

I’d watch it in its entirety (but would be prepared to be disturbed by it). I don’t think it’s right to show it on TV, nor would I let my son within a bull’s roar of it.

This is the leadup to the drop. It shows him being walked to the trapdoor, the noose is placed over his head. I think this is from the “official” hanging video.

It does not show the drop or him swinging after.

I think that happens to everyone when they die.

No. It can happen, and often does, but by no means is it a given. That being said, for deaths resulting from lack of oxygen such as hanging, two things tend to occur:

1. Sphincters relax (i.e. if there’s shit near the asshole, it may come up spontaneously)

2. The person “strains” - in other words, a person’s all-out effort to breath (especially when they can’t because of mechanical reasons such as hanging) causes them to ‘squeeze’ just as if they’re taking a normal dump.

Together, #1 and #2 make most hanging victims shit themselves.
