According to the latest reports, Saddam has been visited by his relatives and given them his will, so it definitely looks like the noose is approaching. He’s apparently still in US custody, however.
Agreed. My opposition to the death penalty has nothing to do with this though. Just lock the guy up for life. Somewhere. Anywhere. As long as due legal process is followed.

When’s the last time a head of state (or former head of state) was legally (or illegally) executed? I think Milosovich (sp?) died in prison, didn’t he?
I’m suprised by this, that it’s really going to happen. I thought he had more crimes to answer for, that there’d be more trials, and I didn’t know about the Iraqi law that says execute within 30 days after the final appeal.
