I just watched the Deer Hunter again tonight and they showed the footage of the running helicopter falling (pushed?) off of the embassy. Do we know the pilot’s name and if he survived? Or is it lost to history…
I remember of lot of shots of helicopters being pushed off aircraft carriers to make room for more landings, but I have no recollection of a scene like that on the embassy roof. I’m interested in learning about such a thing.
Agree, I’ve never seen such footage, except as Boyo Jim has noted. Unless and engine died after setting down atop the embassy roof, there would be no reason to. Never heard of such an occurrance.
